The Armani Jeans brand has been dominating the fashion scene since the 1970’s and shows no sign of going anywhere anytime soon. Initially specialising in jeans and denim related clothing they have branched out further to successfully design t-shirts, jackets, shorts and underwear to name a few. The instantly recognisable logo has been seen across the chests of many celebrities over the years, making it a globally distinguishable brand.
Giorgio Armani was founded in Milan on July 24th 1975 by Sergio Galeotti and Giorgio Armani, who is now the company’s current President, Chief Executive and sole shareholder. Armani’s first complete collection was presented later on in 1975, showcasing the Spring Summer 1976 Collection. Over the next few years, Armani was able to broaden his portfolio and clients by expanding his company overseas to the European market, and by 1979 the Giorgio Armani Corporation USA was established, cementing them as a fashion house in the United States. By the end of the 70’s Armani had successfully launched several new fashion lines including, Le Collezioni, Manu, Armani Junior, Giorgio Armani Accessories, Swimwear and Underwear. Nobody cut a jacket and trousers like Giorgio Armani; he exploded onto the scene back when Richard Gere wore one of his suits in the 1980’s American Gigolo. To this day Armani is one of the most successful fashion designers in Italy.
Armani Jeans are mainly sold in department store internationally with only 15 freestanding Armani Jeans Stores on the world. London welcomed the largest Armani Jeans UK store opening right in the heart of London’s shopping centre- Westfield Stratford City. The Stand-alone store which is also situated near the Olympic park is not only floor to ceiling of Armani heaven but couldn’t be better located. The design and feel of the store has been channelled towards a young, urban and trendy shopper with over 350 square metres of retail glory at their feet. The collection is going beyond just denim, offering items in eco- friendly fabrics and washes. Giorgio Armani’s Philosophy of fashion and style, together with his entrepreneurial ability has been central to the success of the Giorgio Armani Brand. He overseas both the company’s strategic direction and all aspects of design and creativity. Perhaps best known for revolutionising fashion with his unstructured jacket in the eighties, Giorgio Armani has transformed the designer fashion scene over the years, and successfully and rightfully secured a place in fashion history.
“My Philosophy has always been to help women and men feel comfortable and confident through the clothes that they wear, rather than to create decoration for the sake of it” - Giorgio Armani
Celebrities and Media
In recent years a number of celebrities have been involved in endorsements with the brand, including the most popular Beyoncé, David Beckham, Megan Fox, Rihanna, Rafael Nadal and Ronaldo. These have helped the brand catapult back as one of the hottest well respected must have brand in today’s fashion industry, trying to focus more on the younger professionals. Recently Liam Payne of One Direction hit the streets decked in an Armani Jeans hoody. Having celebs that are popular in todays media spotlight always tend to give the brand a boost as they gain more exposure when their picture appears in the glossy magazines or blogs around the internet. Armani was one of the first designers to get his creations into major Hollywood films in the 1980s. His clothing line clad actors such as Richard Gere in American Gigolo and the entire cast of the film The Untouchables. In the films in which his clothes have been used, Armani has always been credited in the opening or closing titles.
At the moment we currently stock both the Armani Jeans collection along with the Emporio Armani menswear collection. The Emporio Armani range tends to be a lower price point and we tend to find the younger market have a tendancy to buy into it more than the Jeans collection. The Armani Jeans collection is a higher end, higher price point range of clothing which runs across a range of products including hoodies, polo shirts, jeans, footwear and many more styles. The Jeans range has a casual feel to it.
