Nike Cortez Ultra Moire

Initially introduced in 1972, the Nike Cortez was the first creation by Bill Bowerman and is timestamped on sneaker culture history as the first Nike running shoe. Praised for it’s lightweight construction, weatherproofing ability and of course comfort, the Cortez stood out more than any other shoe and quickly became a favourite amongst runners.

The Cortez quickly became an off-the-track pair thanks to it’s streamlined design and clean colour ways, with a wide array of appearances on films and TV shows propelling the Cortez to it’s current status. Perhaps the most iconic of these appearances was in the film Forrest Gump, where the OG Cortez was presented in all it’s glory.

Now, in 2016, Nike have re-imagined the OG Cortez with the Ultra Moire treatment. Retaining the same iconic shape, Nike have revamped the Cortez to ensure it stays relevant 44 years after it’s release. The Ultra Moire treatment provides a one piece upper for added durability and comfort, with perforations adding essential breathability to the shoe. The midsole has 3 foam densities for further cushioning and a herringbone outsole allows the Cortez to retain it’s comfort across a range of surfaces. Subtle reflective detailing to the Nike tick and heel branding add to the modern aesthetic

Releasing in the OG colourway as seen on Forrest Gump as well as a sleek black colour way, the Nike Cortez Ultra Moire are available on our Nike page for £70.
