Grenson Shoes

Grenson Shoes and Grenson brogues, such as the Stanley, Archie, Dylan, Finn, Angus and boots Fred and Sharp are mens designer footwear which are heritage wardrobe staple pieces. Grenson Shoes were founded in 1866 by William Green & Sons. The mens designer shoes business thrived due to the invention of Goodyear Welting and by the 1890’s had moved into the current factory at Queen Street, Northamptonshire. Grenson was an originator within its field and at the height of popularity in the 1940's when demand for the classic 'English' style crossed the Atlantic along with Savile Row suits.  Grenson shoes were patronised by Fred Astaire, Cary Grant, Harry Belafonte and our very own quintessentially English gent David Niven.  In the 1970's Grenson supplied the shoes for Ralph Lauren's costume design for the film of Evelyn Waugh's novel 'The Great Gatsby.' In 2010 after successfully re-vitalising the brand with a launch in 2006 of his modern take on the heritage craft, Grenson's creative director Tim Little bought the company.
