J.Lindeberg Brand Guide
J.Lindeberg is a Swedish fashion label founded by Johan Lindeberg. Since 1997 J.Lindeberg has consistently delivered quality fashionable clothing and sportswear. The collections are now stocked in over thirty countries around the world including major cities such as Hong Hong, Seoul, Los Angeles and Stockholm as well as being carried in a large number of independant menswear stores.
Starting at the beginning of the J.Lindeberg story, Johan had been working as the marketing director at Diesel until he resigned after becoming frustrated that he couldn't implement some of his own ideas. Increasingly influenced by his travels through Europe, Lindeberg came to the realisation that he wanted to create his own brand whereby he could put forward his ideas and see them come to life. The J.Lindeberg fashion label sprung into life and was launched in Stockholm and New York in an attempt to become an international brand from the outset.
Coming from a background of working for one of the worlds largest denim brands, it would have been an obvious choice to create his own rival denim brand. Lindeberg instead took the alternative method of taking his love of active sports and blending it with fashion. This collection of designer sportswear really set him apart from his competitors and opened up a gap in the market. Through his friendship with Swedish golfer Jesper Parnevik, Lindebergs sportswear was soon gracing the PGA golf courses and caused quite a stir when Parnevik won the Byron Nelson Championship in a pair of pink J.Lindeberg chinos! As the brand gained exposure, key celebrity figures such as Bono, Brad Pitt, Justin Timberlake and many more began to wear J.Lindeberg to red carpet events.
In 2002 Johan and his wife moved to London in an attempt to move the brand into one of the largest fashion markets in Europe. They quickly produced the brands first womenswear collection as well as announcing the brands first denim collection. J.Lindeberg is today known as one of the hottest designer brands on the market and his clothing is still being endorsed by sportsmen around the world.
