Stone Island: Autumn Winter ’19 New Arrivals
Returning with their fabled compass-laden looks, casual-luxury label Stone Island leave no stone unturned in their AW19 showcase. Contaminated with the revered design DNA of Carlo Rivetti, Stone Island’s AW19 collection continues the brand’s boundless exploration of the apparel realm with an assortment of interesting cuts, tech-driven fabrics and garment dyed formulas.
Though no strangers to an explosive colour palette in the past, the label’s AW19 collection takes things one step further this season. A plethora of punchy, lively hues dominate the capsule, and in turn, look to illuminate the doom and gloom associated with the Autumn Winter climates that are yet to land here in the UK.
The brand’s outerwear, in particular, is partial to the striking shade or two. For instance, take these two looks below that feature a pastel blue Stone Island overshirt and the famous Stone Island Crinkle Reps NY jacket in a warm pigment of coral. Both outfits experiment with playful layering techniques; helping to distinguish an aesthetic that’s both weather conscious and trend aware all at the same time.
Employing a stealthy mock neck Stone Island sweatshirt under the overshirt really allows the latter garment to shine thanks to the distinct colour contrast. In like manner, the Crinkle Reps jacket is imagined with a stone-coloured overshirt beneath it where it utilises a two-way zip closure – enabling a compass-baring tee to peep through from below. The lightweight nature of both these primary pieces is tactical and ensures they can be open to interpretation and styled the wearer’s own way.
As previously mentioned, this season’s collection leans heavily on the sought-after acclaim of the label’s compass patch, and rightly so. The iconic emblem is situated at the core of Stone Island’s operations, drawing in the masses with its seal of casual culture status. And because there’s no denying the logo’s appeal, we’ve triple teamed it in this next look. Channeling a head-to-toe logo look, this ensemble features a Crinkle Reps down gilet layered atop a neutral-toned sweatshirt and black cargo jogging pants to complete. If you’re seeking an outfit that combines comfort and style, this one’s for you.
Similarly, the next pairing also focuses on comfort and the same dark, olive hues. Made up of a Stone Island Micro Reps jacket and cosy jogging bottoms, the outfit is a must for urban outings. The jacket itself is wind-resistant and water-repellent, not to mention it’s constructed with Primaloft® Insulation, meaning the good old English weather shouldn’t prove too much of a problem when you’re venturing from one place to the next this season.
Last but certainly not least in the AW19 lineup we have Stone Island’s lauded offshoot Shadow Project. Renowned for driving the forward development of the business, Stone Island Shadow Project definitely doesn’t disappoint in the apparel stakes. This season the diffusion line reimagines classic silhouettes, bringing them up to date with the label’s experimental ways. The Shadow Project bomber jacket in the next look flips a guazed fleece interior to the exterior, offering a unique textural shift on the norm. Underneath, a striking red sweat brings the ensemble alive pigment wise, while slick black trousers balance the look to the bottom-half.
With so much on offer in the first of Stone Island’s Autumn Winter ‘19 arrivals, we can’t wait to see what else is to come from Carlo Rivetti’s label with the Midas touch.
