If there’s one terrible thing about the winter months, it’s the unpredictable weather: at any time the heavens can open and a downpour can start. This is especially problematic for sneaker fans, especially as the lightweight materials often have little to no protection against the elements. Not good.

Enter adidas and their brand new ‘F’ range. Inspired by adventurous photographers and the lengths they’ll go to get the perfect shot, no matter the conditions, the F/1.4 is inspired by tough trail running shoes, but comes with a 3D knit, fully engineered Primeknit upper laminated to a weatherproof membrane with a water repellent coating that not only keeps the weather at bay, but ensures your foot is wrapped in flexible, lightweight comfort.

The sole unit also takes on winterised tooling, with a heavily ridged, grippy outsole married to a cushioned EVA midsole for the perfect balance of performance and comfort. The midsole also displays a reflective webbing wrap, reminiscent of the iconic Dellinger Web used for shock absorption in heritage running styles like the New York, for a retro-futuristic, technical look. Tonal leather and suede accents to the tongue, heel cup and pull tab add a touch of luxury to the shoe, while the iconic 3 Stripes are welded to the sidewalls for a sleek finish.

For all its winterised qualities, the F/1.4 is definitely an all-seasons winner, with design cues taken from the NMD and EQT series blended together to create something both fresh and functional.
