In the 1950’s, Isaac Miller started to export Baracuta to the United States and Canada, resulting in Paul Stuart beginning to stock the brand in his New York store and the brand becoming known to a much larger buying market. Another precious moment for Baracuta was the moment when Elvis Presley wore the G9 jacket in the 1958 film King Creole.

The name of the G9 was truly determined in 1964 when Ryan O’Neill wore it in his role as Rodney Harrington in Peyton Place. From then the jacket was known as the Harrington. It has got to be said that the most iconic appearance of the Baracuta G9 was on Steve McQueen. McQueen not only sported various styles of Baracuta in his personal life, but also in his various films. The most famous being The Thomas Crown Affair in 1968.

Although, it wasn’t just celebrities that made the jacket famous. In 1965 sharply dressed Mods soon adopted the trend, and even queued outside John Simons’ Ivy Shop in Covent Garden when he began to sell it. From the Mods came the Ska and Punk movement which continued to show their appreciation for the G9 Harrington, which has gained Baracuta a name in Subculture which still continues to grow strong today. Young and older generation Mods and Skinheads are nowadays often seen with Baracuta Harrington jackets on their backs at bank holiday events in Brighton. Recently the brand has also been featured in cult subculture film This is England.
