adidas Deerupt Neon Pack

Designs of Future Past With adidas’ Latest Iteration of the Deerupt

After a subtle and successful rollout of its initial offering, adidas have followed up the popular Deerupt lifestyle model with a neon soled offering, still applying its influence from the revolutionary adidas Marathon Trainer.

The geometric webbing provides the instantly recognisable pattern to the silhouette, with adidas’ heritage and future design thrown on display. With their succession of drops post boost tech, it shows a serious statement of intent from the brand in their trailblazing manner.

As covered in our initial launch ;

 The design feature in question is the Dellinger Web midsole treatment, a net-like grid that covers the midsole foam, intended to help evenly control flex and downward compression through repeated use. Invented by former Nike employee – and Bill Bowerman protégé – Bill Dellinger, the namesake webbing was first used on the 1979 adidas Marathon trainer, one of the last designs overseen by Adi Dassler himself. Since then it has become an adidas hallmark for its trail running silhouettes, from the Oregon and its Ultra Tech variant, through the New York and onto more recent styles like the F/1.4.”

This pack of two comes in the form of a blacked out upper and neon sole offering, and a beige on black combo with an iced out neon underlit taking what we’ve seen before from the silhouette and adapting a two-tone offering that is parts subtle and extravagant in its execution. The removable insole features zoned Ortholite foam cushioning that provides a boost rivalling level of comfort as well as, speaking of boost, incorporating a familiar Ultraboost uncaged welded lacing system that is tonally camouflaged to the upper to remain as incognito as possible. The inclusion of the rigid sole unit is the unusual aspect of the shoe, though gifting it’s Instagram friendly flattened profile, perfect for on feet photos.

We’re in an age where archival and past influence is at its forefront, the past is influencing the future in the most revolutionary ways, and take the Deerupt as case and point.

From Highsnobiety’s initial Deerupt coverage;

“The adidas archive holds around 7,000 shoes, even dating back to the days of the Gebrüder Dassler Schuhfabrik, the name of the family business where both Dassler brothers worked before forming their own brands PUMA and adidas. A wealth of inspiration for adidas designers, as well as brand collaborators like Kanye West and Pharrell Williams, the archive could one day decades down the line, house shoes like the Deerupt, which could subsequently be referenced by future adidas designers. But what would adidas designers do without this archive? Would new, innovative design be possible in the same way?”

As divisive as the actual silhouette may be, the Deerupt and it’s design process is a product of intense studying and application of updated technologies. Nab a piece of history with this release.
