New Balance 327 Given Asymmetrical Patchwork
Only recently joining the brand’s ranks, the New Balance 327 has become somewhat of a cultural phenomenon when it comes to the world of athletic orientated, dad-shoe footwear. Released in Spring 2020, following a collaboration with French-Moroccan brand Casablanca, the trainer quickly garnered fame for its sharp silhouette and ’70s inspired tooling earning them the title of, ‘the ultimate leisure shoe.’
Lifting their design ques from that of heritage running and mixing it with a hearty selection of modern intricacies, the sneakers borrow elements from some of their equally successful counterparts including the New Balance 320 and New Balance 355, merging them into a new and fresh format.
So what’s it all about then? Well, for this rendition the 327 arrives in two distinct asymmetrical patchwork patterns that are sure to please both the tech-savvy and traditionalist alike. Spanning contrasting autumnal hits and cooling rustic tones, both a, ‘Golden Poppy’ and, ‘Indigo Denim’ colourway span their vistas, each with their own unique material composition to boot. With the prior combining ripstop, suede and nubuck and the latter focusing in on the pleasures of denim and canvas, the result is not only two distinct visual makeups but plenty of texture and subtle detailing.
Sitting atop the classic exaggerated waffle outsole, extending both to the toebox and heel for a playful finish, a dual density foam midsole is on hand for for that all important comfort factor. With large N branding found overlaid to the lateral side, a more subtle wordmark sits to the medial rear quarter.
