Nike‘s revival of the Air Max 97 has been one of their most successful retro releases of recent times; the futuristic undulating wave uppers that were ahead of their time in the mid Nineties have become relevant in today’s street style climate. But while the metallic ‘Silver Bullet’ makeup is the most recognisable of the OG colourways in the West, Asian territories had their own exclusive colouring at launch which has become highly sought-after by collectors ever since — and is about to be made available once again.

Reminiscent of the OG colours of the Air Max 97’s elder sibling the Air Max 95, the ‘Japan OG’ makeup sports a predominantly black upper with metallic silver applied to the upper wave piping, while neon green accents appear to the visible Max Air bubble and embroidered mini Swoosh. The outsole tread displays contrasting black and white colouring, and the signature look is completed with the application of a 3M reflective treatment to the uppers for that low-light shine.
