Puma Clyde MII “Made in Italy” Trainers – Available Now
In 1973, New York Knicks Basketball player Walt “Clyde” Frazier made his mark on the scene not only for his success in winning the NBA Championship, but for doing it in style. Known for his unique look, Frazier took to Puma to ask for a custom pair of their iconic Suede silhouette. Puma seized the opportunity and instead re-visited the Suede shape, making it lighter and wider to accommodate for Frazier’s foot. This new silhouette was dubbed the Clyde and from then on it became a Puma classic.
The most recent pack of Puma Clyde’s, the MII “Made in Italy”, aims to pay homage to the original roots of the Puma Clyde but inject some modern aesthetics and luxury into the legendary Puma model. Presented in Black & White iterations, the Puma Clyde MII has been crafted in Italy from the finest materials available. A soft leather upper is complemented by suede detail at the tongue and heel, with fish-like scales seen all across the upper of each pair for a unique look. The signature “Clyde” foil branding has been taken away in favour of a more subtle and seamless upper that are presented in monochrome colours on each pair.
Of course, the Clyde’s initial creation was because of more comfort and Puma have retained this idea with a padded leather lining and padding at the tongue for a snug-like fit to the wearer. Puma also pay homage to the OG Clyde in the form of a retro box that matches the original one that the Clyde was present in.
A seamless combination of modern day aesthetics and original detail, the Puma Clyde MII “Made in Italy” is available in Black & White now for £129.
