Barbour x Adidas Originals Collaboration

These highly anticipated limited edition pieces are set to be huge this season and orders will be sent after the official global launch date on Saturday 8th November 2014

Two of the leading lifestyle brands, usually battling it out, have joined forces to release the ultimate collaboration for the Autumn/Winter 2014 season. This limited edition release of highly covetable clothing and footwear bring together Barbour, whose unprecedented reputation for providing the very best in weather beating outerwear with premium sportswear and footwear brand adidas Originals to produce some of the must have pieces this season.

Taking three main themes, Country, Spectator and Military, each story and collection features jackets and trainers or boots designed to be worn together or standalone pieces. The stories reflect the heritage of both brands from Barbour’s country and military influence to sportswear, the heartland of adidias Originals.

Reflecting the best of both brands and taking inspiration from the archives this collaboration has given contemporary makeovers to some iconic pieces from the world of trainers and jackets.

Country Collection

Celebrating Barbour’s countryside heritage, the iconic Beaufort wax jacket has been given a makeover and new lease of life, named the Adiwick Jacket. Adding contemporary elements in the shape of adidas branded buttons, subtle green three stripe design to the rear and leather trims to the hem, pockets and hood, this is a quality 8oz waxed jacket that will see you seamlessly through the months.

To complement the Adiwick jacket, the classic adidas outdoor TS Runners have been given a specially designed waxed cotton tongue with a beautifully tanned upper leather finish, simple enough to accompany the jacket perfectly.

Spectator Collection

The Spectator story celebrates the heritage of the adidas brand and the long running history the brand has with sport. Barbour has also been seen pitch side for many a years, helping keep the spectators warm and dry with their quality outerwear garments. The Spectator collection combines the two together to produce perfectly designed retro inspired pieces for the sports lover.

The Johbar jacket takes on the iconic Barbour waxed jacket, adapted to meet the needs of the modern day sports fan. The contrasting sleeves, leather binding at the pockets and the cuffs along with the contrasting details adds a more laid back causal feel to the piece.

Moving onto footwear, the ZX555 takes inspiration from the classic ZX model with a slimer streamline silhouette for a more sports inspired design. These shoes have been designed to be worn with the Johbar jacket.

Alternatively, a lightweight shower proof jacket is also available in the Spectator collection, The Roubarb jacket. Inspired by the famous ‘Beckenbauer’ track top from adidas, this jacket mixes Barbour’s traditional quilted design for a warmer feel with a more laid back look of the track top. The CLMBA Barbour shoes in chilli red incorporate the Barbour Beacon logo to the peg ends and add a clever use of Ecotex tongue material.

Military Collection

The Military inspired story concentrates on a customized jacket that Barbour created for a captain in the British Army in the 1980s. Named the Baradi jacket, this multi pocket functional jacket has a contrasting camo printed lining, sections boasting pieces of material from the accompanying GSG9 boot finished with printed map to one patch pocket, helping the keep the British Army roots.

The accompanying footwear to the Baradi Jacket are the G6G9 Barbour Boots. Crafted from soft black nappa leather combined with Barbour waxed fabric makes these boots a natural military inspired boot to partner the Baradi Jacket perfectly.

This year celebrates Aphrodite’s 20th Birthday and we can proudly announce that we have had the privilege to work with a number of iconic British brands to produce a number of specially commissioned pieces for the AW14 season. These brands include Barbour, Grenson, Paul Smith and Oliver Spencer. Each item are limited editions with only a small number available, and once they are gone they are gone.

First of all we are going to have a look
at the Barbour Ashby Jacket. This waxed jacket is a contemporary re-work of the classic Bedale jacket, making this a perfect jacket that will see you through
all seasons. Crafted from Barbour’s signature 6oz Sylkoil waxed cotton and finished with a weatherproof matte coating that will age beautifully, this will become a firm favourite. The inner boasts the classic Barbour tartan lining finished with a large embroidered Barbour and Aphrodite 20th Anniversary logo, making this a one off piece for any Aphrodite or Barbour fans.

Next we have an Oliver Spencer Eton Collar Shirt. A modern stylish shirt that will add sophistication and a hint of formality to your outfit. The all over pattern and rounded Eton Collar mixed with the navy colour gives a statement finish that will compliment your outfit perfectly. An 20th Anniversary Aphrodite swing tag can be seen to the garment, giving a subtle nod to the collaboration.

Paul Smith have cemented themselves as one of Britain’s most iconic brands over the years and the Jeans collection have become a sought after item in the fashion scene. Commissioned to help celebrate our 20th Anniversary, these Paul Smith tapered fit jeans have been crafted from premium quality cotton for ultimate fit and comfort. A hand drawn naked lady which has appeared on selected Paul Smith products can be seen to the inner pocket lining along with a specially printed swing tag.

Moving onto footwear, we can proudly announce we have 2 items from the Great British footwear brand, Grenson. Firstly for the brogue lovers we have a pair of G-Lab Archie Brogues.

A classic brogue crafted from high quality suede with contrasting detailed leather overlays, the Archie is an iconic silhouette. Offering a full lace fastening with a wooden sole to add durability and signature British style. This is the perfect shoe for a formal occasion to wear with a tailored suit, or to dress up a casual outfit of jeans and a shirt.

The gorgeous Grenson G-Lab Fred boot has also been re-worked for our 20th Anniversary. Utilising the same materials and colourway as it’s brogue counterpart, the Fred boot is again Goodyear Welted triple sole and finished to the same impeccable standard.

Barbour Bedale Jacket

The cold snap is certainly setting in across the UK over the last few days and weeks so for this weeks Style Sessions, we feature a specialist in functional outerwear.

Yes we are talking about Barbour and featuring a stunning motorcycle jacket as the main piece of this outfit. The Barbour Duke, available in both Sage and Black is a gorgeous 6oz Thornproof waxed cotton jacket from the Barbour International collection, renowned for their motorcycle inspired clothing. A functional piece of outerwear, the Duke features a multitude of pockets and corduroy lining in the cuffs and neck lining for a functional, stylish and comfortable experience. Lined internally with the classic Barbour check, the Duke is a piece that has been around before and is back by popular demand.

The classic Barbour check is utilised once more on the stylish lambswool scarf tucked around our models neck. As we stated earlier, with the temperature dipping in the UK it is always useful to be prepared and have a scarf at the ready for a day when you might be exposed to the cold weather for a while.

A pair of Nudie Jeans Grim Tim jeans made from 12oz pure indigo Turkish denim have been added to the outfit to compliment the dark colour of the jacket. These dark jeans have been given slightly dirty looking abrasions to add a feature to the denim and it works really well with the hues used in this outfit. They feature the usual orange stitching, Nudie leather tab, classic five pocket design and copper rivets. Priced at £115.00 you will be hard pushed to find a slim fitting pair of jeans of comparable quality.
