Nike Hoodie Sherpa Fleece

Swoosh Street Style: Nike Hooded Fleece

Fusing The Great Outdoors With Urban Spirit

Suddenly realised its nearing the end of 2019 and you’re yet to tick off one of your New Years resolutions? Perhaps one of them was to encourage yourself to step out of your comfort zone? If that’s indeed the case, then lucky you because we’ve just found ourselves in possession of the perfect piece to see you into daring territory. Unapologetically bold, this Nike Hooded Fleece arrives brimming with explosive hues and ‘70s design cues.

Exactly what you need to enliven an autumnal rotation that’s seemingly become mundane, this new-season Swoosh style comes bundled in neon pigments of orange, peach, coral and purple which are then executed with cosy Sherpa fleece and nylon overlays.

Though immensely soft and comforting to the outer, this Nike Hooded Fleece strikes the perfect temperature balance internally thanks to its breathable mesh body. This type of stark fabric contrast on each side is intentional and ensures the design can cultivate the ideal warm-to-cool ratio amidst the unpredictable British weather, which let’s face it, we all love to hate.

Elsewhere, the silhouette’s high-octane aesthetic is bolstered by distinctive Nike branding at the chest and royal-blue trims at its pocket and cuffs. Additional details include a contemporary ½ zip closure and capacious hood with Sherpa fleece lining.

In what appears as a true ‘streetwear meets the great outdoors’ kinda set up, this Nike Hooded Fleece sends a bold, winterized message to the standard feel of ‘70s climbing gear. And though it’s certainly not reserved for the faint-hearted, we encourage you to take a leap of faith with this one, you won’t regret it.

Y-3 Take Sportswear To The Next Level

Since 2003, when adidas and avant garde designer Yohji Yamamoto put their heads together in the pursuit of more unique ventures, Y-3 has always been an interesting one to watch. Established well before the days when the word Athleisure was even coined, let alone unblinkingly accepted onto some of the biggest runways in the world, the brand not only carved a reputation for challenging the pre-conceived conceptions that surround sportswear silhouettes as a whole, but set the bar when it came to how collaborations can and should be done.

Y-3 New Arrivals
Perhaps one of the most alluring qualities Y-3 possess is their sense of identity. Inspired by the contrast between smart and casual outfitting and fuelled by a growing disinterest with making, ‘fancy clothing’ the brand combines Yohji’s more left-field approach with that of adidas’ performance-driven sensibilities, balancing, twisting and combining iconic elements from both sides into something that feels wholly Y-3.

Uniting the majority of their offering under a monochromatic banner, Y-3’s decision to remove colour from their designs allows more emphasis to be placed upon shape, form and function giving way for a selection of technical nuance and interesting use of fabrics to find their way to the surface.

Take for example this seasons interpretation of the classic track pants. Placing the bold contrasting three stripes to the inside leg for a slight spin on a quintessential trait, the pants are imbued with masterful modern tailoring with a relaxed fit through the thigh, slight taper to the ankles and a cropped length. Finished with inner zip cuffs, four pockets and an elasticated drawstring waist, the track pants give way to a tonal Y-3 logo for a hit of subtle branding.

Track tops have also been given some love with asymmetrical details and subtle alterations aligning the somewhat everyday garment with the other quality bits up for grabs. Featuring a contrasting varsity style applique YOHJI callout to the back, the jacket also comes with adjustable cuffs, a fleece lined interior and two front concealed zip pockets, the track top comes complete with tonal stripes and Y-3 logo to the left side only.

Unsurprisingly some of the main talking points found throughout the collection are the accessories, most notably Y-3’s fresh interpretation of the cross-body bag. Constructed in a sling design, the bags come with the ability to be customised to suit the wearers desired needs with straps and storage compartments easily added or removed.

Staple pieces have also been given a precise update with t-shirts, hoodies and hats boasting an array of enviable qualities which include sleek one piece constructions, juxtaposed monikers and signature Yohji cuts.

Making their welcome return both the Y-3 Ren and Kaiwa can be found amongst the greyscale ranks. With updated colourways applied and notable characteristics preserved the sneakers make use of adidas’ affinity for footwear to ensure their staunch looks are matched with plenty of practical utility. Sat alongside the decisively geometric Y-3 Yuuto, which revives one of the first sneakers ever released by Y-3, and the ultra-contemporary Yohji Courts the brand once again prove they are not to be crossed when it comes to on-foot craftsmanship.

The North Face’s New SS18 Apparel Channels Classic Streetwear at its Finest

With a proven track record for making outerwear that’s as suited to the streets as it is to the mountains, it should come as no surprise that The North Face also create fantastic apparel that’s aimed more at the relaxed end of the market.

The ‘Fine’ range of jersey basics displays the same eye for vintage colour and detailing that’s made their jackets a success with tastemakers across the streetwear spectrum: excellent fabric choices like brushed cotton jersey and interlock sweat that feel both sturdy and luxuriously soft; comfort-oriented details like dropped hems, articulated elbows and underarm ventilation eyelets; and that iconic Half Dome box logo displayed to the sleeve in a way that’s distinctive yet inobtrusive.

The colour scheme also swerves the usual whites and navies, with Dark Teal and Vintage White proving just as versatile, yet different enough to stand out. Overall, it’s just very good stuff.

Consisting of long- and short-sleeved tees, a crewneck sweatshirt and a colour-blocked hoodie, The North Face ‘Fine’ apparel is all available from Aphrodite Clothing.

How To Wear Spring Knitwear

One golden rule of mastering all year round style; never pin knitwear as something that only warrants wear during the winter months. Versatile and incredibly useful, knitwear is the perfect piece to work into a layered look to give you a well appointed outfit. Of course, the weight of the garment is key- forget the cumbersome thick knitwear that you may well have relished during the cold winter, and turn to fine knits that reserve an unparalleled fit and timeless aesthetic.

Lightweight, warm, and carrying a strong feel of stylish elegance, Spring knitwear is the ideal way to give your look a fashionable edge, being readily available in everything from v neck jumpers, to hoodies and polo shirts- knitwear offers an iconic heritage that adds a smarter touch to any look.

With a texture that gives off an astute feel that is unmistakably sleek, knitwear is the perfect way to incorporate sharply tailored style into your wardrobe with a huge variety of fashionably timeless styles that are regularly provided by some of the worlds most sought after labels.

Polo Shirts

The timeless style that has been a stalwart for classically inspired cool looks for years on end, the polo shirt is an elegant collared piece that has been adopted from pretty much every fashion movement; from mod culture, to lovers of preppy style, the polo shirt has always featured in everyman’s wardrobe. A knitted polo shirt adds a touch of formality to what has always been a relatively casual look, by dispensing with the pique cotton look and replacing it with a fine gauge knit that affords a sleek fit and sharply tailored image- perfect for wearing with dark denim for a simple yet effective look.

Knitted polo’s offer a few different features that are hard find on their pique cotton counter parts. Features such as colour splits, or extra details with contrasting patterns and fitted hems ensure that knitted polo’s are a must have piece. Long sleeved editions increase the styles credentials for smarter wear, giving an elegant feel to an iconic look.

Jumpers – V Neck

Carrying on with the smarter feel that knitwear can provide, lightweight knitted jumpers are key elements for getting a fashionable spring look right. With a huge host of styles being available, from v necks to crew necks, the options for fine gauge knitwear are endless. Perfect for layering thanks to their close fit and unobtrusive feel, a thin knitted jumper is incredibly versatile, sitting just as well with a simple t-shirt as with a shirt or polo.

Choose a v neck option if you’re looking for a style that will flaunt the layer underneath. V neck jumpers are also perfect if you’re searching for a jumper to wear with tailoring; their deep cut perfectly frames a tie, whilst staying elegant enough to wear underneath a blazer or suit jacket.

Jumpers – Crew Neck

Round or crew neck knitted jumpers provide a much more reserved and astute look, but still carry the same layering credentials as a v neck jumper. Ideally suited for wearing with collared pieces such as shirts and polo’s, the crew neck jumper showcases any collar detail, making them perfect for wearing with shirts that feature a heavy, eye catching pattern.
Bold statements can often be made with a pull over knit, making them fantastic stand out pieces that will draw plenty of attention. Turn to the likes of Vivienne Westwood for a look that won’t disappoint in the style stakes, and makes for the perfect piece to link with simple, plain garments such as crisp white shirting.
Alternatively, opt for simplistic elegance that makes a great base to build a layered look on. Brightly coloured pieces from brands such as Moncler can offer a look that will contrast against any additional layers, whilst remaining lavishly understated with simple, effective branding. Alternatively, darker colours, such as black and grey can help support a shirt that has a heavy pattern, as well as a piece of well chosen tailoring.

Casual Pieces

Casual pieces – Not just for wearing with a smart look in mind; knitwear is just as at home on more casual styles. Covering looks from hoodies to full and half zip jumpers, the look of a knitted weave on casual styles gives them an extra touch of class that can’t quite be achieved with a typical thick wool or sweater material. Allowing you the freedom of an easy to wear style, but with the fit and credentials of a piece of well appointed knitwear, these elegant garments can take your casual style to a new level.
