How Does The Canada Goose Armstrong Hoody Fit?

While we’re on the topic of the jacket’s exterior appeal, it would be foolish to continue without mentioning its favourable fit. The Canada Goose Armstrong Hoody is built to retain heat through the utilisation of a bespoke cut and an assortment of functional features. These include drawstring adjustments at its hood, a zip-through closure and Recessed Power Stretch® cuffs with a thumbhole construction for keeping sleeves in place during activity.

Also to the exterior, two fleece-lined pockets sit either side of the coat’s waist for keeping your hands warm through cold days or for storing several of your everyday essentials. As well as these crucial compartments, a further set of interior pockets provide more storage for necessities, while one of them also allows the jacket to fold down and pack away into within a moment’s notice. Convenient or what?

To finish, adept and meticulous Canadian craftsmanship ensures every feature on the jacket is certified to the highest of standards, while the brand’s signature red disc logo completes the left arm with performance prestige.

Stone Island Shadow Project Parka Rust

Autumn Arrival: Stone Island Shadow Project Contour Parka

A Design Imagined Under The Concept of ‘Variable Adaptability’

Remember Stone Island’s so-called ‘Toffee Wrapper’ jacket from way back in ’92? Well, this Shadow Project Contour Parka doesn’t stray too far from the unforgettable essence of that retro number. Glazed in the same rusted hue, the jacket rolls out as a striking silhouette from Shadow Project’s 23rd collection, yes you heard that right, their 23rd collection! So, with such a monumental touchpoint insight for Shadow Project, the tastemakers behind the brand felt this hooded garm would be the perfect piece to conceptualise under their ‘variable adaptibility’ notion for the new season.

Shadow Project Contour Parka

By ‘variable adaptibility’, we’re talking about the need for change dependant on your setting or unexpected weather, which, if you’re living in good old England like us fine people, it’s an element you, unfortunately, need to consider on the daily. Shadow Project call out the collection with these words, ‘the looming conditions of winter serve as a starting point for the concept of variable adaptability. Mechanisms of conversion, attachment, and expansion serve to widen the use of potential garments, empowering the wearer to modify them in accordance with shifting environmental circumstance.’

So, with that said, how does this Shadow Project Contour Parka actually diversify to battle general changes in scenery or harsh weather conditions? Well, sitting underneath its dual grid nylon outer that’s both translucent and light-refractive, not to mention insanely durable, is an insulating layer of quilted padding, perfect for retaining heat and protecting the wearer from declining temperatures. Additionally, in honour of its ‘Contour’ moniker, drawstring adjustments clinch in the design at its hood, hem and cuffs, locking in warmth while custom-fitting the design to your own personal stature. Furthermore, nylon jersey inlays tonally articulate the base – starting at the cuffs and working their way right up to the style’s chest to present an element of flexibility in areas which move the most.

Stone Island Shadow Project Parka Shadow Project Dual Grid Nylon Parka

As well as being garment-dyed, this Shadow Project Contour Parka also boasts an anti-drop agent, designed to supply a lasting viel of water repellency on the outer, while further detailing comprises of the brand’s signature, all-black compass badge at the left sleeve, joined by two hand-warmer pockets and a utility zip pocket on the arm.

Anything but bashful, this Parka is commanding in every sense, whether it be in colour, construction or purpose. Take a leap out of your comfort zone this season and soak up the goodness on offer from Stone Island Shadow Project as they continue to serve up their 23rd capsule to the industry’s watching eyes.

Maison Margiela Sports Jacket: 2-in-1 Design Codes

Margiela Celebrates The ‘Anonymity Of The Lining’ Concept Once Again

As many Maison Margiela aficionados will already know, house spearhead John Galliano is quite the fan of 2-in-1 design tactics. In fact, the trailblazing British designer is more than a fan, he’s a certified pioneer of the pursuit.

Since 2014, the Parisian label has welcomed Galliano’s self-titled ‘anonymity of the lining’ concept with open arms, with this season promising to set the same agenda. Just remember, there’s more than meets the eye…

New for Autumn Winter ‘19, the Maison Margiela Nylon Sports Jacket is guaranteed to command attention. Crafted to the Maison’s superlative standards in Italy, this mac-style silhouette asks the wearer to look far beneath its surface.

On top of an array of functional features, such as a weatherproof shell, stowaway hood and drawstring detailing; the garment boasts a slick cross body bag that’s hidden away in its right-hand pocket. With the addition of a black buckle belt, the accessory can be worn over the upper-body or wrapped around the waist, of course, depending on your personal preference.

If the hybrid element of the jacket wasn’t enough to entice you, Maison Margiela’s signature four stitches symbolise status to the reverse, while the house’s coding system operates at the face of the design.

Norse Projects x Liberty London

Norse Projects x Liberty London

Norse Projects x Liberty London just happened again and unsurprisingly it’s a match made in heaven, again. Want the scoop? Take a look below…

Here at Aphrodite we are very big fans of Norse Projects. Partly because of their timeless design ethos, clever material use and no nonsense contemporary sensibilities sprinkled with plenty of Scandinavian minimalism, and partly because we share a united bond in our battles against the unsavoury conditions of the North.

But we aren’t here to moan about the rain especially not when we found out that Norse Projects were dipping their hands into Liberty London’s 140-year-old archive, having a good old rummage around and subsequently producing some seriously crowd-pleasing summer prints courtesy of the capital-based fabric experts.

Norse Projects x Liberty London

Arriving on our doorstep in the form of both a short sleeve shirt and military inspired jacket the Norse Projects x Liberty London collection comes made from a lightweight cotton lawn and is plastered seam to seam with an exclusive, and equally delightful, custom-made floral pattern that displays a selection earthy tones set out against bright blues and rich navys. Combined with the rather smart traditional tailoring on offer this two-piece lineup provides the perfect way to inject some eye catching visual appeal into your mid-year rotation that, if recent trends are to be believed, will have you laughing all the way to the front of the more fashion minded masses.

Norse Projects x Liberty London

Boasting both breathability and comfort that’s exceptionally suited for this time of year, the pair come with a number of individual details including a number of handy flap pockets, suave camp collars and both mother of pearl / corozo button closures. Classic styles meet eye-catching materials in a shake of hands between both contemporary and heritage design, what’s not to love?

The Norse Projects x Liberty London ‘Liberty Print’ collection is available now both in store and online at Aphrodite.

Ready for Action: The Barbour SL Camo Bedale Jacket

When you hear the phrase ‘British heritage clothing’, chances are that a Barbour jacket would be one of the first things you’d think of: the brand’s reputation as an outdoor outfitter coupled with their timeless designs and traditional styling gives them an undeniable prestige. In more recent times, however, Barbour have been more willing to experiment with their archival designs, sometimes even handing over the reins to selected collaborators like Japan’s White Mountaineering.

This season is no different, with the brand opting to remix their quintessential waxed jacket, the Bedale, in a whole host of different patterns and finishes. This handsome example sees the Bedale SL – the previously Japan-only slimmed-down version – made up in an archival camouflage pattern, giving it a country-meets-military vibe that somehow makes perfect sense. Still using the brand’s signature waxed cotton fabrics and boasting a contrasting corduroy collar, this is sure to wear in beautifully, making it a perfect investment piece.

The Barbour SL Bedale Jacket in Archive Camo is available instore and online now at Aphrodite Clothing.

CP Company Air-Net Flock Printed Jacket | Available Now

Like fellow countrymen Stone Island, C.P. Company are no slouch when it comes to innovative and eye-catching textile treatments for their outerwear, and since their inception in 1975 have been a go-to for anyone looking to flex the pinnacle of military-inspired sportswear design.

For Spring Summer ’18, the brand have outdone themselves with a wild new fabric that combines a bold and unique aesthetic with the expected technical features that made their name: the Air-Net. Using the classic multi-filament Chrome nylon as a base, the fabric is then printed on the interior face with a three-dimensional honeycomb flock pattern, which serves the dual purpose of adding structure to the fabric, as well as creating an air pocket effect within the garment itself, capturing warm air to provide insulation to the wearer when worn with layers underneath. This also has the interesting side effect of absorbing colour during the garment dyeing process, leaving the pattern visible on the jacket’s external facing for a striking look.

The jacket itself is designed with modern looks and functionality in mind, boasting toggle adjustment tunnels to the hem, an anatomically shaped hood with two-way adjustment and stacked side pockets concealed by two-way zips which allows for easy access to essential items while keeping the lines of the piece sleek and clean. A utility pocket to the left sleeve finishes the piece, as well as housing the Lens Viewer device, giving a nod back to the brand’s iconic Mille Miglia Goggle jacket.

The C.P. Company Air-Net Flock Printed Jacket is available now alongside more pieces from the brand’s Spring Summer ’18 collection.
