Albam Trail Parka Colour-Blocked

Albam Trail Parka Colour-Blocked : From the Peaks to the Pub

Spring 2018 marks London-based Albam Clothing’s tenth year of operation, and to celebrate they’ve not only delivered their usual seasonal crop of fantastic menswear but a brace of special commemorative pieces using their archives as inspiration. The highlight of the collection comes in the form of this bold, colour-blocked rendition of their classic Albam Trail Parka, which was a sell-out hit on its original release back in the heady days of 2011.

This update takes everything people loved about the original – simple lines, heavy duty fabric and hardware, all put together with top-notch European manufacturing – and adds high-contrast colour-blocking that’s inspired by vintage outdoor gear and 90s sportswear, giving the piece an eyecatching makeover that’s a welcome swerve from the brand’s usual muted colour palette.

Not only does it look good, but, crafted from a naturally weather-resistant British cotton canvas, it’s also highly practical, the ideal companion for your weekends, whether you’re out on the hills or just going from pub to pub – just be ready for the influx of people asking where you got it from.

The Albam Clothing range is available in-store and online now from Aphrodite Clothing.

Ready for Action: The Barbour SL Camo Bedale Jacket

When you hear the phrase ‘British heritage clothing’, chances are that a Barbour jacket would be one of the first things you’d think of: the brand’s reputation as an outdoor outfitter coupled with their timeless designs and traditional styling gives them an undeniable prestige. In more recent times, however, Barbour have been more willing to experiment with their archival designs, sometimes even handing over the reins to selected collaborators like Japan’s White Mountaineering.

This season is no different, with the brand opting to remix their quintessential waxed jacket, the Bedale, in a whole host of different patterns and finishes. This handsome example sees the Bedale SL – the previously Japan-only slimmed-down version – made up in an archival camouflage pattern, giving it a country-meets-military vibe that somehow makes perfect sense. Still using the brand’s signature waxed cotton fabrics and boasting a contrasting corduroy collar, this is sure to wear in beautifully, making it a perfect investment piece.

The Barbour SL Bedale Jacket in Archive Camo is available instore and online now at Aphrodite Clothing.

Introducing Stone Island’s ‘2 looks in 1’ reversible Nylon Metal jacket

Sportswear giants Stone Island have taken parts of their SS18 even further this season. To ensure that you get the most out of your jacket, Stone Island’s latest release is reversible to provide two looks in one.

The Nylon Metal is one of the most versatile fabrics from the brand’s textile archive. Proving popular in previous seasons, Nylon Metal was used to create the orange flock jacket. The fabric is put through two dyeing processes to achieve the unique colour sheen, creating an iridescent, chromatic appearance with varied coloured tones.

Stone Island Reversible Jacket Black

The reversible jacket for SS18 will become your companion on those days when it’s neither too hot or too cold, the perfect in-between climates jacket. Lightweight and versatile, the jacket is available in both black and silver. The main side of the jacket is crafted from the metallic Nylon Metal fabric, complete with spacious pockets, zip and storm-flap fastening and the iconic compass badge decorating the sleeve.

On the reverse side, a padded cotton shell is decorated with subtle ‘onion stitching’. This pattern and material are reminiscent of an American military liner, which was designed to be worn underneath a field jacket for extra warmth. Stone Island has embraced the trend of wearing liners as a standalone piece, here constructed as a staple bomber jacket with a ribbed cotton collar, with matching cuffs and hem. There are two buttons on the left sleeve (of the wearer) to change the location of your Stone Island badge.

CP Company Air-Net Flock Printed Jacket | Available Now

Like fellow countrymen Stone Island, C.P. Company are no slouch when it comes to innovative and eye-catching textile treatments for their outerwear, and since their inception in 1975 have been a go-to for anyone looking to flex the pinnacle of military-inspired sportswear design.

For Spring Summer ’18, the brand have outdone themselves with a wild new fabric that combines a bold and unique aesthetic with the expected technical features that made their name: the Air-Net. Using the classic multi-filament Chrome nylon as a base, the fabric is then printed on the interior face with a three-dimensional honeycomb flock pattern, which serves the dual purpose of adding structure to the fabric, as well as creating an air pocket effect within the garment itself, capturing warm air to provide insulation to the wearer when worn with layers underneath. This also has the interesting side effect of absorbing colour during the garment dyeing process, leaving the pattern visible on the jacket’s external facing for a striking look.

The jacket itself is designed with modern looks and functionality in mind, boasting toggle adjustment tunnels to the hem, an anatomically shaped hood with two-way adjustment and stacked side pockets concealed by two-way zips which allows for easy access to essential items while keeping the lines of the piece sleek and clean. A utility pocket to the left sleeve finishes the piece, as well as housing the Lens Viewer device, giving a nod back to the brand’s iconic Mille Miglia Goggle jacket.

The C.P. Company Air-Net Flock Printed Jacket is available now alongside more pieces from the brand’s Spring Summer ’18 collection.

Patagonia H2No Guide

Patagonia are renowned for creating products that are tested to their limits and made to withstand some of the harshest conditions on Earth. One area in which they excel is waterproofing, they have designed the Patagonia H2No range of products that combine their expert skills at creating fabrics with a stunning level of design.

These Patagonia H2No fabrics are tested in not only the lab but the real world to see whether they are up to standard. The way they test the waterproof nature of the material is to simulate real-life conditions from light rain, to a heavy downpour and finally, forcing water through the face of the fabric itself.
