Barbour Beacon Quilted Jackets AW21

Bundle up in Barbour Beacon Quilted Jackets

In terms of the perfect warmth to weight ratio, quilted jackets trump most outerwear options out there. Where billowy down jackets rely on bulk and rain coats lean on light, waterproof shells, the quilted jacket meets somewhere in the middle, seamlessly fusing the two.

Linked closely to the countryside and often the first choice of equestrians, the quilted jacket has more recently enjoyed a return to the limelight within a streetwear capacity. Brands across the board have been reaching for the faithful silhouette to combat temperamental weather without compromising on style. So whether it’s chucking it down outside, gale-force winds, or somewhat mild, this midweight silhouette is suited to the lot.

Not to be biased but we reckon Barbour Beacon’s quilted jackets are particularly special. Not only are they super practical but they’re also peppered with parent company Barbour’s iconic design cues which are equal parts identifiable as they are desirable. Coming in a range of styles and colourways, Barbour Beacon has ticked every box with its latest quilted jacket collection. Read on to take a closer look…

Two top choices from the range are the Barbour Beacon Starling Quilted Jacket in black and the Barbour Beacon Starling Quilted Jacket in olive – twin styles presented in contrasting shades. The latter option feels quintessentially Barbour, it’s whipped up in an earthy green which really feels suited to adventures in the great outdoors. The body of the garment, as you’ve probably already guessed, is completely quilted showcasing a classic diamond pattern throughout. The fill in the jacket’s baffles subtly bulks it up, making it slightly puffier than your standard jacket all while boosting its heat retention capability.

The black iteration is constructed in the exact same manner, boasting the same contemporary hip-length, tonal corduroy collar, easy snap fastening and spacious bellow pockets. The Barbour Beacon logo also features at the bottom half, symbolising the jacket’s origin from the youthful sub-label and the brand’s overall ties to the north east of England, and more specifically, the Beacon Lighthouse in its native South Shields.

Here the Starling Quilted Jackets are layered with the Barbour Berber Fleece Liner and the Barbour Beacon Twill overshirt respectively. Both are available at Aphrodite now.

Certainly no one trick pony, the quilted jacket oozes versatility and can be donned all year round. Therefore, if you were looking for an investment piece you may have just stumbled across a winning style here. In fact, we know you have. Don’t hang about and shop Barbour Beacon Quilted Jackets in-store and online at Aphrodite.

Stone Island Reflective Weave Ripstop TC Jacket

Stone Island Reflective Weave Ripstop TC Jacket

Complete with the limited-edition white compass badge, Stone Island’s Reflective Weave TC Jacket is now available in-store and online.

An illuminating silhouette from Carlo Rivetti’s casual-luxury label, the Stone Island Reflective Weave Ripstop TC jacket is set to outshine garments in abundance this season. Having arrived in-store earlier this week, the glowing-green design has already drawn in the crowds thanks to the brand’s limited-edition white compass badge sitting to its sleeve. Of course, any well-informed Stone Island aficionado will know that the rare emblem is symbolic of the label’s exclusive, in-house materials. So, with that said, let’s take a closer look at this special number.

Stone Island Reflective Weave Jacket

Crafted on home turf, the Italian-made design personifies the complex work of Stone Island’s expert production team. At the development stages, the style is cut from twisted cotton nylon ripstop fabric which then gets woven with a thin, highly reflective tape – obtained via a resin bath that embodies thousands of glass microspheres. From this point, the jacket is then dyed with Stone Island’s specialized colouring formulas which cover textile areas of the silhouette, while ensuring the reflective surface is not compromised.

In addition to this, the Reflective Weave piece is treated with an anti-drop agent, while internally, a Panno Jacquard lining takes design cues from woollen military blankets. Tonal and insulating, the detachable lining is finely crafted from a recycled wool blend and features Stone Island’s compass logo proudly imagined from jacquard processing.

With form firmly covered, function plays a big part of the jacket itself. A two-way zip closure and velcro storm flap ensure the garment grasps both versatility and security, while the incorporation of three handy pockets promise ample storage space.

Finally, the seldom-seen white compass patch works as a badge of honour for this Stone Island Reflective Weave design; celebrating the efforts of the label’s team, expertise, innovation and cutting-edge craftsmanship.

Y-3 Take Sportswear To The Next Level

Since 2003, when adidas and avant garde designer Yohji Yamamoto put their heads together in the pursuit of more unique ventures, Y-3 has always been an interesting one to watch. Established well before the days when the word Athleisure was even coined, let alone unblinkingly accepted onto some of the biggest runways in the world, the brand not only carved a reputation for challenging the pre-conceived conceptions that surround sportswear silhouettes as a whole, but set the bar when it came to how collaborations can and should be done.

Y-3 New Arrivals
Perhaps one of the most alluring qualities Y-3 possess is their sense of identity. Inspired by the contrast between smart and casual outfitting and fuelled by a growing disinterest with making, ‘fancy clothing’ the brand combines Y3 founder Yohji Yamamoto’s more left-field approach with that of adidas’ performance-driven sensibilities, balancing, twisting and combining iconic elements from both sides into something that feels wholly Y-3.

Y-3 New Arrivals
Uniting the majority of their offering under a monochromatic banner, Y-3’s decision to remove colour from their designs allows more emphasis to be placed upon shape, form and function giving way for a selection of technical nuance and interesting use of fabrics to find their way to the surface.

Y-3 New ArrivalsY-3 New Arrivals
Take for example this seasons interpretation of the classic track pants. Placing the bold contrasting three stripes to the inside leg for a slight spin on a quintessential trait, the pants are imbued with masterful modern tailoring with a relaxed fit through the thigh, slight taper to the ankles and a cropped length. Finished with inner zip cuffs, four pockets and an elasticated drawstring waist, the track pants give way to a tonal Y-3 logo for a hit of subtle branding.

Y-3 New ArrivalsY-3 New Arrivals
Track tops have also been given some love with asymmetrical details and subtle alterations aligning the somewhat everyday garment with the other quality bits up for grabs. Featuring a contrasting varsity style applique YOHJI callout to the back, the jacket also comes with adjustable cuffs, a fleece lined interior and two front concealed zip pockets, the track top comes complete with tonal stripes and Y-3 logo to the left side only.

Y-3 New ArrivalsY-3 New Arrivals
Unsurprisingly some of the main talking points found throughout the collection are the accessories, most notably Y-3’s fresh interpretation of the cross-body bag. Constructed in a sling design, the bags come with the ability to be customised to suit the wearers desired needs with straps and storage compartments easily added or removed.

Y-3 New ArrivalsY-3 New Arrivals
Staple pieces have also been given a precise update with t-shirts, hoodies and hats boasting an array of enviable qualities which include sleek one piece constructions, juxtaposed monikers and signature Yohji cuts.

Making their welcome return both the Y-3 Ren and Kaiwa can be found amongst the greyscale ranks. With updated colourways applied and notable characteristics preserved the sneakers make use of adidas’ affinity for footwear to ensure their staunch looks are matched with plenty of practical utility. Sat alongside the decisively geometric Y-3 Yuuto, which revives one of the first sneakers ever released by Y-3, and the ultra-contemporary Yohji Courts the brand once again prove they are not to be crossed when it comes to on-foot craftsmanship.

Balmain Jacket Teddy: High Octane Glamour

New Arrival For AW19 The Balmain Jacket Teddy

Steeped in decades of glamour, French fashion house Balmain has become a byword for Parisian prestige and the label’s latest AW19 piece – a luxurious Balmain Jacket Teddy – does everything to bolster this perception.

Brought to life under the reputable hand of Japanese craftsmanship, this Balmain Jacket is made from a plush blend of velvet and rayon fabric. Cast in clashing black and white hues, the design presents a decisively high-key and low-key construction that’s destined to command attention and the brand’s knack for drawing in the crowds, each and every season, can only be owed to house helm, Olivier Rousteing.

Balmain Jacket Teddy Black

Since taking the reins in 2011, Rousteing has successfully filtered through his penchant for Eastern influences, intricate detailing and powerful proportions, while reinstating the global acclaim of Balmain. With this Balmain jacket Teddy, Olivier fuses the house’s taste for the finer things with a varsity-inspired look – demonstrated by the striped detailing at its collar, cuffs, and hemline, coupled alongside bordered articulation at the sleeves which are braided in a delicate monochrome thread.

To the reverse, a metallic medallion operates as the literal silver-lining of the garment, holding the label’s rich identity in a crest-like formula, while to the front, Rousteing’s team spirit graduates with the letter ‘B’ woven into the chest. Detail wise, a two-way zip closure will enable the wearer to reveal further luxe layers hidden under the design, complete with the addition of two side pockets for carrying smaller valuables.

Norse Projects x Liberty London

Norse Projects x Liberty London just happened again and unsurprisingly it’s a match made in heaven, again. Want the scoop? Take a look below…

Here at Aphrodite we are very big fans of Norse Projects. Partly because of their timeless design ethos, clever material use and no nonsense contemporary sensibilities sprinkled with plenty of Scandinavian minimalism, and partly because we share a united bond in our battles against the unsavoury conditions of the North.

But we aren’t here to moan about the rain especially not when we found out that Norse Projects were dipping their hands into Liberty London’s 140-year-old archive, having a good old rummage around and subsequently producing some seriously crowd-pleasing summer prints courtesy of the capital-based fabric experts.

Norse Projects x Liberty London

Arriving on our doorstep in the form of both a short sleeve shirt and military inspired jacket the Norse Projects x Liberty London collection comes made from a lightweight cotton lawn and is plastered seam to seam with an exclusive, and equally delightful, custom-made floral pattern that displays a selection earthy tones set out against bright blues and rich navys. Combined with the rather smart traditional tailoring on offer this two-piece lineup provides the perfect way to inject some eye catching visual appeal into your mid-year rotation that, if recent trends are to be believed, will have you laughing all the way to the front of the more fashion minded masses.

Boasting both breathability and comfort that’s exceptionally suited for this time of year, the pair come with a number of individual details including a number of handy flap pockets, suave camp collars and both mother of pearl / corozo button closures. Classic styles meet eye-catching materials in a shake of hands between both contemporary and heritage design, what’s not to love?

The Norse Projects x Liberty London ‘Liberty Print’ collection is available now both in store and online at Aphrodite.
