Norse Projects New Arrivals

Contemporary Classics With Norse Projects

Despite Spring Summer gear coming at us thicker and faster than the recent snowy weather – the irony doesn’t escape us – we’ve always got time to show off some of our latest arrivals, especially when they are as nice as some of the newest stuff from Norse Projects. One of the great masters of contemporary menswear their minimal detailing, no-nonsense construction and clean silhouettes keep us coming back for more season after season, and of course, this is no different. If you’re a fan of over-the-head outerwear, endless layering possibilities and sharp overshirts then please, read on.

Lightweight, breathable and both water and dirt repellent, the Kalix Anorak is an incredibly comfortable half-zip jacket that can be incorporated easily into layered looks or worn on its own when things heat up. Paired here with the Godtfred t-shirt and the Aros light twill chinos, the jacket Comes with two front pockets to keep both hands warm and brick a brack safe whilst an adjustable hood and waist bulk up the jacket with some extra protective options when the elements begin to get out of hand. We know what you’re thinking, a t-shirt? Won’t you be freezing this time of year? Well, I’m here to politely tell you that’s where you’re wrong. Aside from its typically Scandinavian flavoured stripe design and relaxed cut, the Godtfred t-shirt comes crafted from a heavyweight compact cotton material ensuring bonus points when it comes to baselayer insulation. Lastly, we threw a Norse cap into the mix both because it features that small embroidered N we all can’t get enough of and it might have made the sun come out by sheer force of will. Sadly, it disappeared not long after these pictures.

Norse Projects Spring Summer '19

Norse Projects New Arrivals

Norse Projects Cap

A pullover hoodie underneath an overshirt is as casually cool as those subtle head nods people do to one another when they pass someone on the streets they sort of know but not enough to stop and have a conversation. In this case, we went with the Jens Zip jacket over the top of this season’s burgundy cotton loopback goodness. Made from a similar lightweight nylon material as the aforementioned Kalix, the Jens Sits atop another pair of classic Norse Aros chinos and comes with two front chest pockets and that all-important two-way zip for versatile styling. The usual kangaroo pouch pocket, Norse Projects tab and adjustable hood we’ve come to expect from the year-round staple Vagn hoodie is, of course present, ready to provide a splash of functionality and just a touch of branding suitable for even the most stripped back look.

Maison Kitsune

New to Aphrodite: Maison Kitsuné

Here at Aphrodite we’re huge fans of an animal logo: from the iconic Lacoste crocodile to Paul Smith’s psychedelic rainbow zebra. Joining these illustrious ranks is our latest brand — Maison Kitsuné.

Originally a (very cool) record label, the Franco-Japanese brand now runs a (very cool) clothing range alongside it, which we are delighted to welcome to our racks this Spring. The first drop starts off strong with a spread of wardrobe essentials, all crafted in Portugal by carefully-selected manufacturers with a certain artisanal savoir-faire that manifests in the softly-worn vintage appearance of the garments. The defining feature, though, is that amazing tricouleur-flavoured fox embroidery to the chest, giving that effortless Parisian flair the brand is known for.

Encompassing sweatshirts, polos and both long and short sleeved t-shirts, the first arrival from Maison Kitsuné is available instore and online now. Keep an eye on our social media feeds for more as it arrives, along with the rest of our Spring/Summer ’19 ranges.

adidas Gazelle Super | Black & White | Available Now

If you’re on the lookout for a truly classic pair of sneakers for the summer, the adidas Gazelle is always a good shout. Two pairs of the rarely-seen Super variant have just dropped in some timeless monochrome colourways, easy to drop into any outfit for some understated style.

Adidas Gazelle

Until recently, the Gazelle Super was an ultra-rare archive style from the Three Stripes, only being resurrected earlier this year. Originally made in the former Yugoslavia in the 1980s before being discontinued in 1997, the Gazelle Super differs from the classic Gazelle in the distinctive adidas branding window above the 3 Stripes, similar to the Powerphase and other athletic shoes of that era. The last is further modified with a slimmed-down toebox, slightly thicker midsole and lower heel profile, and both pairs are crafted from supple grain leather uppers with gold-stamped Gazelle callouts for a premium finish. Sat upon gum-coloured sole units, the overall feel is as classic as it gets.

adidas x Raf Simons Ozweego 2 Bunny

Raf Simons and adidas are back at it again with the second Ozweego 2 Bunny drop of the season, this time in a moody black colourway with contrast gum-coloured outsole tread.

The Ozweego family has seen considerable hype from fashion stars across the board, from the street to the catwalk and in between, and for good reason. Raf’s bold architectural design sensibilities combine with the 3-Stripes’ extensive archive of footwear and technical know-how to create a shoe both forward-thinking and familiar. The Ozweego cuts a striking retro-futurist figure with its exaggerated adiprene midsole with contrast adiwear tread, two-layer uppers combining materials and textures like neoprene, rubber and nylon, and the distinctive translucent silicone bubbles along the sides and to the tongue. The Bunny model is distinguished by gold-stamped typographical details to the uppers, as well as the designer’s logo printed to the collar.

Releasing in very limited numbers, the adidas x Raf Simons Ozweego 2 Bunny is available on Friday the 17th of March from Aphrodite1994.

Stone Island Mussola Gommata Ghost Piece

Stone Island Ghost Piece

One of the highlights of the most recent drops from Stone Island is this stunning ‘Ghost Jacket’. The ghost piece is perennially seen one of the highlights of the seasonal collections with Stone Island making the entire piece monotone in colour. Even the compass badge logo attached to the arm is given a makeover to blend in with the jacket.  Limited edition in numbers, these ghost pieces are popular with collectors of designer clothing and fans of the Stone Island brand.

So what makes this ghost jacket so unique that Stone Island have decided to give it the label of a ‘ghost piece’ you might ask? Known throughout the world for their research into materials and dyeing techniques, Stone Island have put that extensive knowledge to use and used one of their own exclusive fabrics on this jacket; Mussola Gommata.

The Mussola Gommata fabric is constructed from a light cotton muslin base which is then fused to a polyurethane film. A double dyeing process then takes place in Italy resulting in the unique tonal value that you see on the jacket. The woollen sleeves give the jacket a unique twist by contrasting against the main body using the Mussola Gommata material.

A stowaway hood has been cleverly added into this product to aid its functional qualities in the bad weather. Deep button down pockets to the front of the jacket are another practical addition.

You can buy the Stone Island Mussola Gommata Ghost Piece now for £725 but numbers are strictly limited.

Stone Island Reflex Mat Technology

Stone Island Reflex Mat Jacket

No brand seems to get the fusion between technical innovation and fashion right as often as Stone Island. The technical sportswear giant is back for the Autumn Winter 2013 collection with some stunning pieces of outerwear in its first drop of the season.  One jacket in particular to note is the Stone Island Reflex Mat Jacket.

The Reflex Mat technology offers a unique outer fabric with a matte finish, made up of thousands of tiny glass microspheres on a polyester base which has been enriched with high saturation colour agents.  The resulting effect gives a fabric which is matte in lighter conditions but becomes shiny and almost reflective in darker light.  Fleece lined added to its wind/water resistant nature make this an ideal jacket for the winter months.

The video below highlights the Reflex Mat technology although the jacket featured in the video is different to the piece we are selling.  Priced at £750, this limited edition piece is available to buy from our Stone Island brand page now
