Here at Aphrodite we are very big fans of Norse Projects. Partly because of their timeless design ethos, clever material use and no nonsense contemporary sensibilities sprinkled with plenty of Scandinavian minimalism, and partly because we share a united bond in our battles against the unsavoury conditions of the North.

But we aren’t here to moan about the rain especially not when we found out that Norse Projects were dipping their hands into Liberty London’s 140-year-old archive, having a good old rummage around and subsequently producing some seriously crowd-pleasing summer prints courtesy of the capital-based fabric experts.

Arriving on our doorstep in the form of both a short sleeve shirt and military inspired jacket the Norse Projects x Liberty London collection comes made from a lightweight cotton lawn and is plastered seam to seam with an exclusive, and equally delightful, custom-made floral pattern that displays a selection earthy tones set out against bright blues and rich navys. We’re up to our eyeballs in hot off the press Spring Summer gear and surprise, Surprise It’s all exceptionally nice. Whether AMI’s your thing, you have a sweet spot for a good pair of trainers or you just can’t contain yourself at the sight of a compass patch, if you want it, we’ve more than likely got it. So, in the spirit of fairness, we thought we’d bring you a comprehensive list of some of the pulse-raising clobber you can currently get your hands on as well as some of the stuff that’s soon to be up for grabs.

Albam Zip sweatshirts

This new iteration of the classic Albam zip-up sweatshirt certainly stole some looks when it came through our doors. Not only does the distinct colour of this Stone Island overshirt remind us of a fresh lemon sorbet but it arguably presents just about the same melt in the mouth qualities. Contemporary Classics With Norse Projects

Despite Spring Summer gear coming at us thicker and faster than the recent snowy weather – the irony doesn’t escape us – we’ve always got time to show off some of our latest arrivals, especially when they are as nice as some of the newest stuff from Norse Projects. One of the great masters of contemporary menswear their minimal detailing, no-nonsense construction and clean silhouettes keep us coming back for more season after season, and of course, this is no different. If you’re a fan of over-the-head outerwear, endless layering possibilities and sharp overshirts then please, read on.

Lightweight, breathable and both water and dirt repellent, the Kalix Anorak is an incredibly comfortable half-zip jacket that can be incorporated easily into layered looks or worn on its own when things heat up. Paired here with the Godtfred t-shirt and the Aros light twill chinos, the jacket Comes with two front pockets to keep both hands warm and brick a brack safe whilst an adjustable hood and waist bulk up the jacket with some extra protective options when the elements begin to get out of hand. We know what you’re thinking, a t-shirt? Won’t you be freezing this time of year? Well, I’m here to politely tell you that’s where you’re wrong. Aside from its typically Scandinavian flavoured stripe design and relaxed cut, the Godtfred t-shirt comes crafted from a heavyweight compact cotton material ensuring bonus points when it comes to baselayer insulation. Lastly, we threw a Norse cap into the mix both because it features that small embroidered N we all can’t get enough of and it might have made the sun come out by sheer force of will. Sadly, it disappeared not long after these pictures.

A pullover hoodie underneath an overshirt is as casually cool as those subtle head nods people do to one another when they pass someone on the streets they sort of know but not enough to stop and have a conversation. In this case, we went with the Jens Zip jacket over the top of this season’s burgundy cotton loopback goodness. Made from a similar lightweight nylon material as the aforementioned Kalix, the Jens Sits atop another pair of classic Norse Aros chinos and comes with two front chest pockets and that all-important two-way zip for versatile styling. The usual kangaroo pouch pocket, Norse Projects tab and adjustable hood we’ve come to expect from the year-round staple Vagn hoodie is, of course present, ready to provide a splash of functionality and just a touch of branding suitable for even the most stripped back look.

Cold Weather Essentials

It’s brass, the possibility of snow is inevitable and you can’t keep wearing all your clothes at once to try and stay warm. Desperate times call for desperate measures and what you need is some reliable, durable and protective gear to see you through mother natures worst. Robust denim, a Thick jacket, cosy beanie, tough boots and of course the all-important colourful socks. Behold, the answer to all your winter woes.

Unless you plan on hibernating until spring has sprung then the threat of snow looming on the horizon may have you shaking in your suede shoes. When it comes to cold, wet, generally unpleasant weather the truth is you just can’t go wrong with a premium pair of leather boots. We chose the Avoriaz Jannu from Paraboot. Handmade in France for the toughest terrain the boots feature a padded collar and tongue for exceptional comfort as well as a double-stitched Norwegian welt commando sole for grip, support and sturdiness. Top it all off with some heavy duty striped laces and a rich waxy brown colour for a touch of mature styling and watch your icey fears melt away. But, of course what is a good pair of boots without a really nice set of socks to go with them? Luckily for us our cold weather fellow northerners across the pond, Norse Projects have just supplied us a fresh batch of their twisted cotton yarn socks in yellow, purple and, the colour we decided to opt for, red. Very nice indeed.

Next on the list is a jacket. What jacket? The jokers among you may ask and for that, we’d give you a solid exhale from the nostrils and a firm shake of the head. But we aren’t here to joke around not when it comes to waiting for the bus in below freezing. We’re looking for water and wind resistance, a warm lining and plenty of embedded functionality, let us introduce you to the Wyndham parka from Canada Goose. With the brands signature down filling, a removable fur ruff lined hood, rib knit cuffs and a total of 6 pockets including, fleece lined hand warmers, the jacket is designed with extreme conditions and the coldest climates in mind. Finished with a two-way heavy duty zip with additional press stud flap and the Canada Goose patch to the arm this coat makes all the right moves when it comes to keeping you nice and toasty on your urban escapades. Nipping out on a teabag run at work? No worries. Football match? See you there. The beach in -6°C? Lets do it.

For those of us who have ever got caught in the rain in a pair of sweatpants we know it’s less than ideal. Couple this with the harsh frost ladened winds and you’ve got yourself a pretty abysmal time by all accounts. Well, try not to beat yourself up too much because, as we all know, after the rain comes a rainbow, in this case, a rainbow pair of selvage denim from Edwin. Cut from a 12.8oz denim with a mid-rise and relaxed, tapered fit, the jeans are robust enough to last you a lifetime without sacrificing on comfort. To finish our look off we decided to go for some subtle matching, pairing an olive Canada Goose beanie with the tones found throughout the camo patterning. Made from a thick 100% wool for both a quality fit and insulating properties, it boasts the unmistakable Canada Goose seal of approval to the front ensuring everyone you pass on the streets knows you mean business.
