Adidas State Series Illinois Available Now at Aphrodite

The Adidas State Series Illinois pays homage to the state’s iconic Prairie fields…

Inspired by the European City Series that brought us trainers such as the Hamburg, the State Series is an American counterpart for our friends over in the USA. Having previously covered states such as Alaska and Nevada, the brand with the three stripes have turned their attention towards Illinois with a concept inspired by the state’s abundant fields of Prairie.

The trainer is dressed in an ambient sky blue suede upper, with wheat coloured leather detailing making up the shoe’s lining, heel tab and of course… three stripes. To the tongue a graphic displays adidas ‘Prairie’ lettering with iconography of wheat proudly centred. Underfoot, a gum rubber sole is added to elevate the trainers style, furthering its classic, timeless look, whilst also hiding a secret graphic that has been added as a subtle nod to Route 66.

Adidas Look To Remake The Original ‘Made In Japan’ Munchen

A trio of colourways pay tribute to the original ‘Made in Japan’ adidas München collection…

The adidas München is an icon to say the least. Initially debuted in 1976, the München arrived as part of the German brands ‘City Series’ and offers that classic adidas aesthetic that we all go a little bit nuts for. The original München featured a soft suede upper, contrasting three stripes and a white sole unit, yes that’s right, a white sole. The silhouette didn’t see a gum sole until it was released in the 80’s as a Japanese exclusive style, the first of its kind, the gum soled München arrived in an array of colourways and the Asian exclusive is incredibly sought after and difficult to find nowadays.

While you may be correct in thinking that you can grab a pair of München’s with a gum sole from any decent trainer store, their availability only comes thanks to a reinterpretation of the model by Gerry Aspen in 2015. The OG colourways still remain to be seen, well that is until now…

For SS23 adidas have decided to treat us with a recreation of three of the Japanese Exclusive colourways, an ode to the OG as you will. They arrive in ‘Navy and Red’, ‘Red and Silver’ and most notably ‘Cream and Gold’. They all remain true to their predecessor with the contrasting colours, vibrant style and incredible shaping around the shoe from toe-box to heel. Adidas Gazelle Drops in ‘Blue’ and ‘Red’

Sporting bold tones and vintage styling

The Adidas Gazelle is a mainstay within the German brand’s offerings and has become the pinnacle of terrace footwear, thanks to its incredibly versatile and distinctive style. As we head into December two fresh colourways of the model will be gracing the shelves at Aphrodite.

Arriving in vivid shades of Red and Blue, the latest iteration of the iconic silhouette sees Adidas look to the archives in order to revive the classic foam tongue, reminiscent of 80s styling. Each trainer is constructed using a soft suede upper, contrasted by off white leather lining, heel tabs and three stripes. The brands trefoil logo appears on a classic tongue tab as well as being debossed onto the heel, while gold foil branding accompanies the brands logo’s on the trainers’ side panelling.

Adidas Jeans Trainers – A Terrace Classic

Initially released way back in 1976, the Adidas Jeans silhouette has never faltered in its popularity.

The model was designed with the purpose of effortlessly pairing with denim, and has since became an archival classic that us three stripes fans all know and love. This iteration ditches the suede uppers seen on previous models in favour of a more robust and durable Cordura® fabric; A synthetic fabric, Cordura has been used in a number of military-use items such as rucksacks and trousers thanks to the incredible longevity it offers, alongside its abrasion resistant and water repellent properties, so you can guarantee that it’s going to hold up on the terraces.

Underfoot a black mudguard offers further protection and durability while complimenting the military-like olive green tones of the upper, and to ensure traction a gum outsole is featured, complete with a trefoil logo tread. The silhouette has been decorated with a Cordura Tab and gold foil branding.
