The latest Wales Bonner collection has arrived at Aphrodite just in for the summer. A vibrant range of clothing and footwear that seeks inspiration from academics and poets who helped advance postcolonial discourse, leading to the intense academic and spiritual growth of the ’80s. The designs still display the iconic three-stripe patterning and sleek silhouette and available online at Aphrodite.

These Adidas trainers come with multiple branded points, allowing for ultimate brand recognition. A pop of colour is given through the blue and white laces alongside a blue inner sole. Available in two different colourways and dual leather and suede exterior for a modern yet classic look.

This retro-style top is one of the latest additions to the Adidas roster. Comes in a multi-toned colourway of shades of brown and gold alongside brown logo detailing on the chest, alongside a lightweight jacket making the pair the perfect addition to your wardrobe for spring/summer. Adidas x Wales Bonner Launch

The final issue of Adidas and Grace Wales Bonner’s collaboration is upon us. Dubbed “Black Sunlight”, the collection concludes a trilogy of releases that intended to highlight the world of Afro-Caribbean and Black British intellectualism.

Following on from the apparel release back in November, the duo have dropped a collection of four footwear models using the Adidas ‘Japan’ silhouette as their creative canvas. The collection gives off serious ’80s vibes, offering timeless style while elevating your footwear rotation with a touch of luxury:

“Dark Marine/Easy Yellow/Cream White”

Constructed from a navy nylon upper, this pair features suede patches to the side and heel of the shoe. Blue leather forms the toe box and eyelets as well as a cross at the back of the shoe, following the archival traits of the Japan model. A soft yellow is present on the tongue and stripes alongside detailed cotton stitching. Underfoot, an off-white midsole cushions every step while gold foil branding completes the shoe.

“Cream White/Easy Yellow/Dark Brown”

Seemingly the most luxurious pair of the collection, this colourway is crafted using a soft, premium, cream-white leather. An easy yellow suede is draped over the toebox and heel, while a dark brown covers the heel tab, tongue lining and three stripes. A knitted cotton tongue adds to Wales Bonner’s distinctive retro style and the trainer is completed with brown stitching to the heel.

“Dark Brown/Collegiate Burgundy/Easy Yellow”

The only pair with a suede upper, this colourway sees the combination of brown and burgundy to give off a vintage feel. The crossed heel, again, follows the archival traits of the Japan silhouette, using a burgundy leather. A soft yellow midsole offers a reminder to classic 80’s runners and white lacing helps to complete the shoe. Gold foil branding is present in the form of “Wales Bonner” and the Adidas Trefoil Logo.

adidas Originals x Wales Bonner AW21 Collection

Rounding up a trilogy of collabs between the sportswear giant and Central Saint Martin’s graduate, we’re pleased to inform you that the latest adidas Originals x Wales Bonner capsule is imminent and we’re proud stockists of the collection.

Titled ‘Black Sunlight’, the series succeeds previous themes of ‘Essence’ in spring/summer 21 and ‘Lovers Rock’ from the autumn/winter 20 lineup. Centered on themes of Caribbean Thought and Black British intellectualism; poets, scholars, and artists from India, West Africa, and the Caribbean are explored within the offering, with Bonner highlighting their various works and how they’re responsible for advancing postcolonial discourse in the UK.

Described as a homage to the ‘80s, Black Sunlight literally propels the Wales Bonner endeavor into a new era, with the last two collections feeling distinctively ’70s, the adidas x Wales Bonner AW21 collection celebrates the radical movements of the ‘80s – a time where academic and spiritual growth felt boundless. Enlivened by way of signature ‘80s cuts, the collection boasts an array of tees, pants, tracksuits, jackets, and accessories, including a Trefoil loaded sun hat. Sticking with the scholar tones, the designs are embellished with collegiate graphics throughout.

This most recent offering in the adidas x Wales Bonner series has been shot by the hugely talented Tyler Mitchell. Photographed on a balmy summer afternoon, a cast of models can be seen exploring a green vista with instruments, footballs, bikes, and other objects captured, along with vibrant ribbons and fabrics intertwined. “The images seek to convey emotive feelings of freedom, intimacy, and brotherhood drawn out through unfettered authenticity and connectedness.”

There are also some Wales Bonner Japan trainers on route too. Though these won’t drop till February, the prospect of a Bonner rendition of the iconic adi’ silhouette is very exciting indeed. Colourways of the adidas x Wales Bonner Japan sneaker will span Dark Marine/Easy Yellow/Cream White, Hazy Yellow/Brown/Dark Brown, Cream White/Easy Yellow/Dark Brown, and Dark Brown/Collegiate Burgundy/Easy Yellow. Look out for these dropping in the New Year.
