Y3 Qasa High “Black/Olive” & Stan Zip “Triple Black”

adidas’ long-running collaboration with Japanese design legend Yohji Yamamoto has been one of the most consistently fruitful pair-ups the fashion world has ever seen. Of all the diverse styles that the team has conjured up, the Qasa High and Stan Zip have often been the most sought-after, and with good reason; they combines adidas’ rich heritage of sportswear innovations with a uniquely futuristic design sensibility that translates perfectly to the streets of today.

The design is built around the distinctive sole unit lifted from the Three Stripes’ Tubular series, with its oversized, rounded profile, and this release is presented with double-knit textured mesh uppers in a wraparound fit, in a moody black and dark olive colourway with definite military vibes. Overlaid elastic straps provide extra support in areas that need it most, while smooth nubuck overlays appear to the toe and heel and laces provide extra foot lockdown. The look is completed with a soft TPU heel counter with the Y3 branding front and centre.

At the other end of the spectrum, the Stan Zip is a much more straightforward reworking of one of the best-selling trainers of all time, the adidas Stan Smith. This version keeps the iconic shape of the original mostly intact, but completely reworks the materials, coming in a tonal matte black colourway, with technical neoprene fabric uppers. The main selling point is the dual zips to the lacestays, that allow the entire lacing unit to be zipped away or fully removed if the wearer wants, leaving the sock-fit neoprene exposed. This opens the shoe up to a variety of different ways to wear, whether you love to experiment with the look of your shoes or keep things classic.

Y-3 Yohji Run SS17 Release Info

The Y-3 Yohji Run builds upon its success in previous seasons by launching in these two colourways for Spring Summer 2017. The combination of once again using the adidas Boost sole unit and the mesh upper makes for an incredibly lightweight sneaker. The flexible heel cage aides comfort and boasts some imposing Y-3 branding. Yohji Yamamoto branding adorns the leather middle stripe of the 3-stripe design that gives a nod to its adidas influence. On the black model, a very subtle diagonal stripe pattern runs through the mesh upper whilst the white version opts for a more minimal look. A lace up system completes the shoe.

Y-3 Qasa High Release Info

The Y-3 Qasa High is re-imagined once again for Spring Summer 2017 with the release of this new sleek model. The style that helped mould so many subsequent sneakers is mostly a black tonal colourway for the exception of the geometric pattern that adorns the upper. Premium leather overlay panels sit on the toe cap and heel cup whilst the iconic elasticated wrapping takes centre stage on the upper. The shoe sits upon the obligatory tubular sole unit which aides even weight distribution. A sock-like design to the upper aides comfort whilst the lacing system can allow for a custom fit. Yohji Yamamoto embossed branding features to the forefoot whilst Y-3 branding accents the heel cap.

Y-3 Kozoko Low Release Info

Y-3 have this week launched one of their new styles – the Y-3 Kozoko Low. Drawing on influence from previous designs, Y-3 have incorporated the unbelievably comfortable and responsive adidas BOOST sole unit. adidas Torsion support is built into the sole of the shoe and combines well with the rubber outsole for additional traction. The sock-like upper gives a customised fit and is accented by premium leather panels and TPU elements. Y-3 branding adorns the heel unit whilst Yohji Yamamoto’s name has made his way to the toebox. The black version of the shoe has a subtle diagonal stripe running through the upper as a nod to its adidas influence.

Y-3 Qasa High Premium Arrives

After exploding onto the sneaker scene only a few seasons ago, the Qasa has proven to be one of Y-3’s most successful ever silhouettes, finding itself alongside styles such as the Boxing and Sprint. Since the Qasa’s introduction, Y-3 have since produced a plethora of colour ways and materials that have all been massive successes. Perhaps the most successful, the triple black, returns this season but has been re-invented with a host of more premium materials that retain the details that make the Qasa so great.

A lightweight crinkled leather base forms the underlying lining to the shoe, with super soft suede elastic straps overlapping the under laye r in signature Qasa style. Further suede hints can be found at the lace lock and toe box which add a previously unseen luxury feel to the futuristic silhouette. As per previous Y-3’s, their iconic branding can be found at the heel, with subtle Yohji Yamamoto retaining its place at the end of the midsole.

Y-3 Pure Boost ZG Knit silhouette lands at Aphrodite

Y-3 lovers have been waiting to get their hands on the highly anticipated Pure Boost ZG Knit silhouette since its debut at the SS16 runway show in Paris.

Here at Aphrodite we are stocking the unique trainer in two distinctive colour-ways. Go monochrome or opt for a more colour-pop vibe with the purple style which boasts yellow detailing.

The trainer follows a low-top construction, crafted from Primeknit elements to allow to balance texture with flexible and breathable properties. Yohji Yamamoto gives a nod to Adidas with signature three stripe paneling to the sides containing Y-3 branding.

The Pure Boost ZG Knit also holds the Boost mid-sole to give instant energy as soon as your feet hit the ground. The details are reminiscent of the Ultra Boost, again showing that this collaboration was meant to be.

Yamamoto combines two classic colours that work well always, black and white. Tonal uppers and bold white stripe details make this style a must-have for any Y-3 fan who loves to keep up to date with the latest release. Both trainers are complete with a rubber sole for durability and convenient full lace fastening.

Over the course of the past few seasons, the Y-3 Qasa High has been the crowning glory of a very successful collaboration between Japanese designer Yohji Yamamoto and adidas. Built upon the ultra comfortable tubular sole unit which aides even weight distribution, the Qasa High has become a sneaker that is now used as inspiration for subsequent releases from other brands.

The instantly recognisable elasticated straps that wrap around the upper have been tonally produced to work seamlessly with the overall aesthetic. Soft goats leather panels have been added to the toe area and eyelet bar holder to give a premium feel to this modern sneaker.

Y-3 Qasa High Release SS16

The revolutionary design of the Y-3 Qasa High has now become one of the most instantly recognisable silhouettes in the sneaker game. Sitting upon a contrasting tubular sole unit which aides even weight distribution for additional comfort, the Qasa returns in a black sock-like upper. Tonal elasticated wraps overlay the upper of the shoe for some interesting detailing.

Luxurious details such as the leather inner-sole and leather panels accenting the toe / heel area gives the shoe a premium feel. Yohji Yamamoto branding is embossed into the side of the midsole whilst Y-3 branding is subtly added to the heel tab and sole unit.
