Founded in Annecy, France, Salomon came from humble beginnings. Starting out as a family ran metal workshop, Salomon's growth into an international brand began when they created the first quick-release metal bindings for ski boots. From there, exposure at the winter Olympics led to the brand becoming the premium standard of quality ski equipment. Following a couple of snow-less winters Salomon decided to venture out into the world of trail-running and hiking, producing activity-appropriate footwear that took a function-first approach.
