What is Selvedge Denim?
In the world of Jeans, one term that often pops up is 'Selvedge Denim', but what is Selvedge Denim and why is it so well-loved by Denim enthusiasts?
Selvedge Denim's roots can be traced back to early Denim production in the late 19th century, the term 'Selvedge' originates from 'Self-Edge', referring to the fabrics self finishing edges.
Unlike mass-produced denim, Selvedge Denim is produced on purpose-built looms that create a tightly woven fabric from raw denim, with a unique finished edge that allows for sharp roll-ups.
Selvedge Denim is loved by many due to its longstanding durability, unique look and styling versatility. As most Jean lovers appreciate, Selvedge Denim patinas well through years of wear, telling the story of the wearer's life through its distress.

How To Wash Jeans?
As most self-dubbed denim enthusiasts will agree, your jeans are like a second skin and should be treated as such. As a result, the most commonly asked questions we receive are "Can I Wash Denim?" and "How do I wash my Jeans?" The answers? Yes, carefully.
Now we all know the age-old tale of your denim-mad uncle throwing his Jeans in the freezer, a unique technique we admit, but we aren't so sure that it works. It definitely isn't found on any care labels that's for sure!
Here at Aphrodite, we would recommend waiting as long as possible between washes to extend the lifespan of your jeans. When it becomes an absolute must, we advise washing Denim inside-out, on a cold-wash cycle either by itself or with similar coloured denim. To dry them out, a radiator or dryer machine is a big no-no, be sure to hang them out on the line on a breezy day.
If you've followed these tips then your denim-washing expertise should now be through the roof, and you'll be left ready to tackle that next dreaded Jeans wash. Remember - Always Read The Care Label!
