Y3 Yohji Boost Trainers

‘Ten years ago, together with adidas we created something that did not exist before and completely projected the future. My desire was and is to make sportswear elegant and chic. adidas is a very personal inspiration to me … it enriches my creative life.’ – Yohji Yamamoto, 2011

From a law graduate to a graduate of fashion, Yohji Yamamoto started his first line for women in 1972. He continued to design for his own line ‘Y’s’ through the 80’s and 90’s. In 2003 Yamamoto began his collaboration with Adidas named ‘Y-3.’ The Y standing for Yohji, the 3 to respect the adidas three stripes and the ‘-‘ to link the two brands together. Today the collaboration is still strong, crafting unique staples which have been a never-ending success through the years.

Following the success of the Yohji Boost in the previous season, they are now back for round two. Adidas and Yohji Yamamoto’s on-going collab introduces this high tech piece for the second time, complete with Adidas Boost technology. Providing energy returning properties which never lose their elite performance. The Boost technology beats any other cushioning in running history when it comes to energy return. The Boost mid-sole is followed by a rubber out-sole, giving the shoe ultimate wear ability.

The Yohji Boost is presented in an elegant black colour-way, making it a staple trainer which will match any casual outfit. The uppers are carefully crafted from micromesh neoprene with a neoprene under-lay and nappa leather detailing. Offering RPU bindings and leather and microfibre suede lining for extra comfort. Whether these shoes are worn in the gym or on the streets, they are certain to be both comfortable and provide long wear-abilty. We also stock the retro boost, the same model but presented in a vibrant floral pattern.

Here at Aphrodite we stock a range of Y-3 including the Yohji Boosts. If you’d like to browse our selection it is available both online at www.aphrodite1994.com or in our Sunderland store.
