Today marks the 20th Anniversary since the doors opened in Aphrodite for the very first time. Andrew and Duncan McKenzie took on the challenge of creating a much needed independent store for designer menswear in the heart of Sunderland. Aged just 18 and 21 at the time, the two brothers started out with just 400sq ft of floor space in Vine Place, Sunderland, with which to start their business.

Roll forward the clock 20 years and Aphrodite are currently undergoing a development to expand the shop floor area to 4,000sq ft by expanding for the fourth time. By developing the two buildings to the left of the store, Aphrodite is gaining much needed floor and storage space for the new brands that we have for this season and beyond.

Brands have came and gone as fashion changes but Andrew and Duncan’s aims have remained steadfast; to provide contemporary and forward-thinking designer brands. We would like to thank all of our customers past and present for your continued support and look forward to the next 20 years.
