DSquared2 New Spring/Summer Arrivals
Founded in 1995 by twins Dan and Dean Caten, DSquared2 certainly haven’t wasted any time when it comes to flaunting their distinctly unique approach to the design and construction of their clothing. With an array of influences from across the world, such as traditional biker attire and sub-cultural movements like punk often found at the forefront of their collections and an impressive track record of dressing countless main stays in the upper echelons of the celebrity world, the brand quickly earned a reputation for luxurious designs, bold embellishments and garments that don’t cut corners when it comes to quality.
With the mantra, “Born in Canada, Living in London, designed in Italy.” Sitting firmly at the heart of the fashion house’s staunch sensibilities, DSquared2 continues to push the envelope with both their runway shows and ready to wear collections playing on contrasts and moulding together opposing themes to challenge preconceived notions of familiar pieces. But, as the brand continues to evolve, a more mature sophistication has worked its way into the mix bringing with it a more accessible feel that compliments the classic DSquared2 edge and immaculate craftsmanship, resulting in clothing that not only retains a strong sense of identity but can be adopted into a multitude of wardrobes with ease.
A perfect example of this new found harmonious approach, DSquared2 present their most recent take on the tried and tested sweatshirt silhouette by putting to work bold graphic prints and rich pastel colours perfect for the warmer months. Boasting a number of subtle but impactful change ups to the usual unassuming formula the sweatshirt experiments with proportions utilising a cropped body, dropped shoulders and slightly elongated sleeves for a relaxed look. Made to the highest specification in Italy from 100% cotton it ticks all the boxes, delivering personality and quality in a relatable and versatile package.
Similarly, a number of pullover hoodies can be found throughout DSquared2’s current lineup rounding out their selection of laidback everyday garments. Forming up the key components of the modern man’s wardrobe this one in particular comes complete with everything from top stitched detailing and raglan sleeves to a retro inspired athletic print and relaxed hemline.
Of course, it wouldn’t be right to discuss DSquared2 without mentioning the denim on offer and luckily for us there is plenty to talk about. Arguably one of the areas which the transatlantic brand excels at you can find a plethora of hand done distressing taking centre stage with rips, tears, patchwork, paint splatters, frayed hems and pre-faded spots coming together to achieve a culmination of vintage worn In appeal.
Teamed up with signature cuts such as the tapered leg and low rise of the cool guy jeans and the slim cropped cigarette jeans the pieces are finished with sharp detailing such as patented patches, metal hardware and subtle branding providing ample evidence on why a good pair of denim is something not to be overlooked when putting together a standout fit.
There is also plenty for outwear fanatics to get their teeth stuck into including this re-imagining of the classic satin bomber, which combined with a denim jacket and hits of premium leather, represents a contemporary take on an archival style. Pieced together with silver metal hardware, contrast stitching and some unapologetic printed branding to the back for an extra dose of designer flair, the jacket is a great all round piece capable of being dressed up or down.
Last up DSquared2 present another amalgamation of their multi influenced design process pairing old school uppers with a modern sole unit they present a trainer that defies trends and instead focuses on showcasing it’s plentiful number of refined intricacies. Made from a combination of leather and suede they display sporty side stripes, branded metal hardware and a contrasting red heel pull tab among a selection of clever artistry.
