Edwin was conceived back in 1947 – after its founder, Mr. Tsunemi grew tired of America’s dominance of the denim market. Brands like Wrangler and Levi’s ruled the designer jean world, and Mr Tsunemi sought to not just offer a competitive alternative to their styles, but also create jeans that bettered them on cut, quality of material and construction.
Edwin jeans were the result of Mr Tsunemi’s mission to put Japanese fashion on the map, with the first pair of Edwin jeans rolling off the sewing machine in 1961, having been made entirely in Japan.
Edwin Jeans became a brand of firsts, leading from the front as they developed modern denim to include the world’s first ever stone washed denim- this practice of aging jeans has since been adopted by every denim brand on the planet, confirming the brands status as one of the world’s denim super powers.
From multi coloured selvedge edge jeans, to creating the heaviest pair of jeans ever made, Edwin jeans took a classic style and made it their own, as Edwin Jeans became one of the most desirable denims in the world.
