The Evolution Of The Premier League Logo
Premier League logo
The Premier League logo is one of the most recognisable logos in the sports world, but as of February 2016 the PL announced it wanted a new ‘visual identity’ for the 2016/2017 season.
Over the years the Premier League has had a number of different logos since its conception in 1992, but as the times change and all thing digital is taking over, the logo needs to change with the times. The new identity has been created by Design Studio with Robin Brand Consultants, and has been simplified to its simplest form, without Sponsorship and with an injection of colour. As a result, fans are divided.
The new logo which has a more rounded lion form, had been designed to be ‘fit for purpose’ – it was designed digital first, broadcast ready and app ready – definitely moving away from the previous versions.
We have searched around for Premier League logos over the years (the guys in the office enjoyed dusting off their Merlin’s and Panini sticker books) and looked at how they have evolved and progressed (some may disagree) over the years. What’s your favourite?
