Stone Island Ice Jacket From 2012 Collection

Stone Island have built their reputation through innovation and creativity. Over the past three decades the brand has produced a number of materials which are unique to themselves and are experts in garment dyeing. The Stone Island Ice Jacket for Autumn Winter 2012 is a garment which has that wow factor that will have fans of the brand in a state of excitement.

What are the features of the Stone Island Ice Jacket

In a nutshell, this impressive Stone Island jacket changes colour depending on the temperature that it is exposed to. In normal temperature it appears grey but changes to a much darker shade of grey the colder it gets. The technology and research that has gone into coming up with this material is why Stone Island jackets are so sought after. The researchers have experimented with the interaction between light refraction and thermo sensitive technology. The coat is then coated in a resin that holds glass microspheres to the nylon fabric which allow light refraction and allow micro-encapsulated pigments to alter the passage of light. This in essence is what enables the colouration change which is relative to the temperature.

Getting back to a more aesthetic view point, the jacket is finished with a signature black and white Stone Island compass logo on the arm. The black and white version of the patch has been created to be used whenever Stone Island have developed the material/technology used in the jacket. As it is the 30th anniversary of Stone Island this year, there is an internal commemorative ’30 Anni’ logo on the pocket.

A fully lined adjustable hood will ensure that this jacket keeps you protected in the harshest of weather, and will even change colour along the way. This special jacket was available in limited numbers and was available in our Stone Island section for £875.
