Adidas x Wales Bonner Silver Samba

adidas x Wales Bonner Collaboration

adidas and Wales Bonner team up for another hotly anticipated collaboration.

Inspired by Grace Wales Bonners European and Afro-Atlantic influences, the upcoming collection utilises classic adidas styles as a blank canvas, with the Samba and SL72 models acting as the designer’s muse. Having previously been used in the labels’ AW20 and SS22 collections, the silhouettes are set to receive a fresh makeover, offering a stand-out style with a clear nod to Wales Bonner’s rich heritage. An apparel range is also set to drop alongside the trainers, with adidas and Wales Bonner combining to release classic windbreakers and t-shirts with a high-fashion twist.

Adidas x Wales Bonner Samba

Being the silhouette of the season, its clear to see why Wales Bonner has taken her unique approach to the adidas Samba. The model’s sheer versatility acts a sponge for the eponymous labels distinctive aesthetic, with WB and three stripe branding available on both colourways. An ecru colourway utilises muted and earthy tones within its construction, while a silver model delivers a stand-out style that can quite easily become a wardrobe staple, if you’re bold enough…

Both colourways feature a large tongue that draws its design from the Samba’s footballing heritage, and while serrated leather striping is present on the Ecru style, the Silver Samba sees Wales Bonner return to a crochet style stripe as seen in previous adidas x Wales Bonner collaborations.

Adidas x Wales Bonner SL 72

Having been been used in the debut adidas x Wales Bonner collaboration, the designers are returning to the iconic SL72 silhouette for SS23. The duo have replaced the nylon upper typically seen on the silhouette in favour of a knitted mesh, which pairs with the SL72’s narrow sole. A bold colourway reminiscent of Jamaica’s national colours offers up a green and gold look, while a brown and red pair deliver a juxtaposing look.

Each model dons dual branding and incisively conveys the notion of contemporary luxury, Wales Bonner’s influence is clear, and as far as we’re concerned the use of the SL72 was always going to be a recipe for success.

adidas x Wales Bonner Apparel

Alongside the sought-after drop of footwear, adidas and Wales Bonner have teamed up to offer a curated range of clothing. Taking on classic designs, such as the adidas Windbreaker, Grace Wales Bonner has applied her distinctive style to the collection of apparel. From a nylon anorak with zip off sleeves, and a knitted track top, to retro inspired t-shirts, the duo have certainly hit the nail on the head with this release.

Get your dose of Jamaican hues and minty fresh tones, and make effortless pairings with your adidas x Wales Bonner footwear for an elevated look.

A.P.C. Carhartt WIP Interaction #5: Coming Soon

Following a slew of high-profile collaborations, A.P.C. is set to showcase yet another ‘Interaction’ alongside workwear stalwart Carhartt Work In Progress, with whom it has already worked with four times previous. Launching in the coming weeks at Aphrodite in-store and online, ‘A.P.C. Carhartt WIP Interaction #5’ sees the two revered labels blend their tastes to deliver a collection that harmonises both A.P.C.’s understated elegance and Carhartt WIP’s steady embodiment of streetwear.

A.P.C. x Carhartt

Fronted by a co-branded logo, in which the label’s iconic ‘C’ emblem falls to the end of the French brand’s three letter acronym, this series takes signature Carhartt pieces, such as the brand’s Michigan Chore Jacket and elevates them via the employment of A.P.C.’s extensive fabric expertise. Steering the capsule in this way quickly sees each garment redefined, for example, the jacket’s rugged indigo canvas is replaced with a smooth cotton construction.

In addition to reworking materials, the ‘A.P.C. Carhartt WIP Interaction #5’ collection also embraces a sustainable shift. Organic cotton tees, sweats and hoodies – in unisex formulas – form a weighted part of the offering, demonstrating once more the industry’s pursuit for a cleaner planet and the ever-increasing consciousness of brands globally.

A.P.C. x Carhartt Interaction #5

As well as an array of essential pieces in pared-back hues of washed denim, greys and khakis, ‘Interaction #5’ also includes super-soft cashmere beanies, caps, jeans and co-branded tote bags for commuting your necessities in superior style throughout the city.

The campaign for the collection is headed by Matteo Montanari, an Italian photographer who currently divides his time between London and New York. Having produced editorial imagery for the likes of Vogue Italia, Calvin Klein and Ralph Lauren, it certainly comes as no surprise that the images effortlessly capture each brands agenda to a T. Shot candidly in Paris, the images hone in on A.P.C. and Carhartt staff selected from stores in Paris, Antwerp and London. Also on hand is French stylist, Charlotte Collet, who supplies her laidback, undone look to each ensemble.

Two British Icons Reunite

It’s no secret that music and fashion have long co-existed for one another’s benefit, with creatives from both industries regularly entering the opposing territory, doing so by lending their prolific identity and expertise to a fresh line of work. Perhaps the most rememberable representation of this in recent times, at least in the UK, falls on the fabled shoulders of heritage label Fred Perry and Last Shadow Puppets co-frontman Miles Kane.

Having been in partnership for some time now, the two have truly mastered a particular type of style synergy that resonates with a distinctly British audience. Fred Perry x Miles Kane garments pay tribute to the brand’s formative years in the ‘70s, while infusing Kane’s confident sense of style and alternative design language.

For the upcoming season, Kane and Fred Perry deliver a capsule that’s laced in dark, atmospheric tones – specifically designed to mimic ‘dim lighting’ and provoke that ‘martini in hand kinda vibe’ to all who bare the apparel. This time around, classic Fred Perry designs like the polo shirt opt to subvert the norm, with Kane changing the silhouette’s signature button placket and replacing it with a gold-toned ¼ zipper on some iterations within the lineup.

Elsewhere, leopard comes into play for the first time. Seem a surprising choice? Maybe. But, in the grand scheme of the season, it’s not as startling. Brands across the globe chose to take a walk on the wild side this season, with catwalks in London, NYC, Paris and Milan all embracing the element of animal instinct for AW ‘19. Find the pattern atop a luxe Fred Perry x Miles Kane track-jacket, embodied by dark, tonal fabrication and surrounded with gilded embellishments.

Finally, for those hoping for a more nonchalant sensibility, look no further than the collaboration’s turtleneck tees. Crafted from a breathable textured piqué, the design, which arrives in black and white renditions, is a must-have for any man’s weekend wardrobe. Fred Perry’s credentials reside at the chest with the iconic Laurel Wreath embroidery, while stretchy trims comfortably wrap the neckline, cuffs and hem, offering ease of motion and subtle structure.

Sure to transcend the status of Fred Perry x Miles Kane collections even further, this fresh offering promises to promote no-nonsense shades and contemporary cuts, while confirming Fred Perry and Miles Kane as a collaborative class act yet again. Shop the collection when it launches in-store and online at Aphrodite on 24/10/19.

WIN – adidas x Human Made Solar Trainers

adidas, Pharrell Williams and Nigo’s Human Made Join Forces

Drop everything you’re doing, we have some exciting news for you; after nine months of endless trialing and impromptu teasing, the adidas x Human Made collection is finally upon us. Set for launch on the 5th of October, the capsule brings with it two romantic remakes of the iconic Solar Hu and NMD Hu trainers.

adidas x Human Made Collection

Both sneakers are already prominent pictures in Pharrell Williams’ collaborative line up with the Three Stripes label, in which styles regularly showcase the designer’s conceptual mindset and affinity for explosive hues. But, for the new season ahead, both the Solar Hu and NMD Hu opt for a drastically different look that’s peppered with the signature aesthetic of Nigo’s Human Made imprint and adidas’ advanced innovation.

Flanked by responsive cushioning, the adidas x Human Made Solar Hu chooses to turn its back on Williams’ audacious tones, instead, favouring a much more refined aesthetic at the base. Heading back to basics in all-white, the silhouette leans on the sock-like support of Primeknit up top, this knitted fabric not only ensures a breathable ride, but also encourages flexibility through every pursuit. And at the vamp, Nigo opts to position Human Made’s synonymous red logo to the core – vibrantly embroidered, the emblem holds the brand’s moniker close to its heart, while its beating lines represent adidas’ iconic three stripes.

adidas x Human Made Solar Huadidas Human Made Solar Hu

Though the external form of the shoe has been treated to a 360° makeover, its functionality remains mostly the same. Bolstered by a boost™ midsole and a stabilizing Torsion system, the trainer lands and propels smoothly, while its continental rubber outsole provides superlative traction on the ground.

adidas x Human Made Solar Hu White

In like manner, the adidas x Human Made NMD is a shoe after the Solar Hu’s heart. With technology on its side, the trainer powers ahead with the same responsive boost™ cushioning, paired with moulded EVA midsole plugs anchoring both side panels for that signature NMD look. As well as the Human Made heart sitting to the vamp, this iteration also boasts the label’s ‘STRMCWBY’ logo, short for Storm Cowboy, to its leather heel panel. Internally, the design is finished with a colourful diagram that playfully maps out surrounding areas of the body, including the lungs, liver, stomach and so on.

Human Made x adidas NMD Trainer

Since both Nigo and Pharrell have collectively made magic of anything they’ve turned their hand to for decades now, the future is looking bright for the adidas x Human Made collection, with the Solar Hu and NMD Hu silhouettes launching in just a few days time (05/10/19) here at Aphrodite… act fast if you want to catch a pair!

Championing the brand’s rich heritage history, the trainers use the traditional Goodyear welted method, a technique which Grenson has implemented for over 150 years which, despite being a more labour intensive and time-consuming process, yields significant improvements to both sustainability and durability. Made from a mixture of both smooth and grained tan leather for a hit of textural depth, they feature a contrasting rubber cup sole, script font detailing to the inner and an embossed Aphrodite moniker to the heel.

Barbour x White Mountaineering Collaboration Now Available

Barbour x White Mountaineering

Barbour x White Mountaineering

After much anticipation and speculation on various blogs and forums, the Barbour x White Mountaineering collaboration has finally been launched. Yosuke Aizawa’s White Mountaineering label has merged with British Heritage brand Barbour for one of the most mouth-watering collaborations of 2015. Combining years of technical knowledge and tradition, the collaboration sees a range of waxed jackets, bags, shirts, t-shirts and shorts hit the market in a variety of eye-catching patterns.

Aizawa has used Barbour as inspiration for his White Mountaineering collection for years and even beforehand when working for Comme Des Garcons. His recognition for the love of Barbour in Japan has played a massive part in the collaboration, allowing him to take the traditional jackets that the Japanese love so much and give them a modern touch.

Barbour White Mountaineering

With that in mind, a custom Japanese Tempest illustration print has been designed incorporating the Barbour Beacon logo, to adorn many of the garments in both navy and stone colourways.  Barbour have taken their wealth of knowledge of working with waxed cotton’s and merged it with the technical details and Japanese inspired print to produce some mouth-watering jackets.

A range of separates accent the collection perfectly for anyone wanting to buy into the collaboration but might not want the exuberance of the double wave-print jacket / shorts combo.

Barbour x Adidas Originals Collab

Barbour x Adidas Originals Collaboration

These highly anticipated limited edition pieces are set to be huge this season and orders will be sent after the official global launch date on Saturday 8th November 2014

Two of the leading lifestyle brands, usually battling it out, have joined forces to release the ultimate collaboration for the Autumn/Winter 2014 season. This limited edition release of highly covetable clothing and footwear bring together Barbour, whose unprecedented reputation for providing the very best in weather beating outerwear with premium sportswear and footwear brand adidas Originals to produce some of the must have pieces this season.

Taking three main themes, Country, Spectator and Military, each story and collection features jackets and trainers or boots designed to be worn together or standalone pieces.  The stories reflect the heritage of both brands from Barbour’s country and military influence to sportswear, the heartland of adidias Originals.

Reflecting the best of both brands and taking inspiration from the archives this collaboration has given contemporary makeovers to some iconic pieces from the world of trainers and jackets.

Country Collection

Celebrating Barbour’s countryside heritage, the iconic Beaufort wax jacket has been given a makeover and new lease of life, named the Adiwick Jacket. Adding contemporary elements in the shape of adidas branded buttons, subtle green three stripe design to the rear and leather trims to the hem, pockets and hood, this is a quality 8oz waxed jacket that will see you seamlessly through the months.

To complement the Adiwick jacket, the classic adidas outdoor TS Runners have been given a specially designed waxed cotton tongue with a beautifully tanned upper leather finish, simple enough to accompany the jacket perfectly.

Spectator Collection

The Spectator story celebrates the heritage of the adidas brand and the long running history the brand has with sport. Barbour has also been seen pitch side for many a years, helping keep the spectators warm and dry with their quality outerwear garments. The Spectator collection combines the two together to produce perfectly designed retro inspired pieces for the sports lover.

The Johbar jacket takes on the iconic Barbour waxed jacket, adapted to meet the needs of the modern day sports fan. The contrasting sleeves, leather binding at the pockets and the cuffs along with the contrasting details adds a more laid back causal feel to the piece.

Moving onto footwear, the ZX555 takes inspiration from the classic ZX model with a slimer streamline silhouette for a more sports inspired design. These shoes have been designed to be worn with the Johbar jacket.

Alternatively, a lightweight shower proof jacket is also available in the Spectator collection, The Roubarb jacket. Inspired by the famous ‘Beckenbauer’ track top from adidas, this jacket mixes Barbour’s traditional quilted design for a warmer feel with a more laid back look of the track top. The CLMBA Barbour shoes in chilli red incorporate the Barbour Beacon logo to the peg ends and add a clever use of Ecotex tongue material.

We are currently awaiting images to be forwarded from Adidas for the Roubarb Jacket in Black.

Military Collection

The Military inspired story concentrates on a customized jacket that Barbour created for a captain in the British Army in the 1980s. Named the Baradi jacket, this multi pocket functional jacket has a contrasting camo printed lining, sections boasting pieces of material from the accompanying GSG9 boot finished with printed map to one patch pocket, helping the keep the British Army roots.

The accompanying footwear to the Baradi Jacket are the G6G9 Barbour Boots. Crafted from soft black nappa leather combined with Barbour waxed fabric makes these boots a natural military inspired boot to partner the Baradi Jacket perfectly.
