adidas Ultraboost 20 Triple Black

adidas Ultraboost 20: Back To Black

If you’re a self-proclaimed sneakerhead you’ll already know that adidas has been on a winning streak with the Ultraboost releases in recent weeks, the brand even voyaged to outer space for one extraterrestrial collaboration with the International Space Station this month, but, it seems that it’s back to orderly business for the Three Stripes as it delivers a triple-black colourway of its fabled running shoe for the upcoming season.

Dubbed the adidas Ultraboost 20, this all-new sneaker may not be subject to the expert approval of astronauts but let me tell you, it’s no run-of-the-mill silhouette either, but then again, no Ultraboost iteration ever is. Where the sneaker lacks in colour and contrast, it makes up for in textural elements and state-of-the-art adi’ tech. For example, its Primeknit+ upper is designed to hug the foot, offering the runner a snug, streamlined fit that’s free of added bulk and lightweight enough for the city streets. Elsewhere, Tailored Fiber Placement and a TPU cage wrap the shoe with supreme support in all those high-pressure areas and the savvy construction doesn’t just end there…

Underfoot, responsive Boost cushioning provides a springy surface for a plethora of fast-paced activity, in turn, making light work of any performance-driven duties you set your sights on, whether that’s a gruelling gym session or a light evening jog. In addition to this, adidas’ Stretchweb outsole with Continental™ rubber ensures the sturdiest possible grip on the ground – we’re talking expert traction that’s been rigorously tested, by both adidas and tire manufacturing expert Continental, to supply stability through every terrain.

With unapologetic colour blocking seen as a staple of the collaborations offering since its inception in 2014, this next partnered venture takes things in a totally different direction, replacing vibrant, punchy hues for subtle monochromatic uniformity. Giving the sneakers a real sense of grounded appeal, this vastly different visual approach highlights the technical nuance of the SolarHu’s unique silhouette bringing to the fore both pinpoint alterations and the diverse similarities it shares with its Ultra Boost counterpart.

Ultra Boost Collective – Kris Van Assche

Ultra Boost Collective – Kris Van Assche

After the impressive reaction to the Dirk Schonberger x James Carnes Ultra Boost Collective trainers release earlier this month, we can proudly bring you the second installment of the mens styles, the third release in total from the entire boost collection. Designed by Kris Van Assche, a Belgian fashion designer, these trainers have been given the designers sartorial tailoring style, implementing the classically refined Argyle print.

Kris Van Assche recently announced that he would be ending his independent ‘KRISVANASSCHE’ label, concentrating all his effort into his role as creative director of Dior Homme, meaning this collaboration could end up being one of the last products to be released attached to the name Kris Van Assche. The combination of the trainers light, weightless modernity and the deep sense of bespoke history associated with the diamond pattern which can be seen to the prime knit upper gives a playful feel to the sneaker, bridging the gap between style and comfort.

“Finding the right balance between urban style and the spirit of sport is always challenging and has been a constant concern in my work. Hence my choice to counterbalance the very idea of performance that defines the Ultra Boost with the Argyle pattern, as a strong and established code of tailoring”. – Kris Van Assche

The trainer itself keeps the original Ultra Boost silhouette featuring a host of performance innovations including the full length Boost foam cushioned sole, giving the most enhanced energy return and comfort to date. The upper has been made from a prime knit material to give the trainer a ‘futuristic sock’ look with lightweight, breathable properties while boasting the Argyle pattern in red, navy and greay. A contrasting white midsole, red outsole and tonal navy overlays wrap the whole design up beautifully.

The Kris Van Assche Ultra Boost trainer will be available to buy from Thursday 25th June.

Ultra Boost Collective Pack

Ultra Boost Collective – Triple Black, Triple White

Its nearly time for the official release of one of the most, if not the most highly anticipated trainers of the year. The Ultra Boost Collective is a limited edition capsule collection featuring iconic and personal takes on the adidas’ classic Ultra Boost silhouette by 5 different designers. The result is a series of footwear designs that encapsulates both the innovative tradition of adidas and the distinct aesthetics of each creator – striking a perfect balance between futuristic technology and modern elegance.

This release, which follows the Stella McCartney introduction, is the first mens style design for the collection and has been designed by two of adidas’ in house creative directors, Dirk Schonberger – Creative Director of adidas’ sports style division and James Carnes – Creative Director of adidas’ sport performance teams. Building on their combined knowledge of high fashion and high performance, Dirk and James have developed their versions of the Ultra Boost playing on the history of adidas. With a heritage built upon using the highest calibre materials and superior manufacturing techniques, the guys wanted to design a shoe which demonstrates this. Having extensively explored a range of textiles from some of the most technically advanced performance fabrics to some of the most natural fabrics such as wool, the outcome is 2 monochrome designs for a sleek, minimal finish to let the shoe do the talking.

First up we take a closer look at the triple white. Crafted from the strongest fibre material in the industry with a textured primeknit upper, knitted sock with reflective yarn details in keeping with the Ultra Boosts running shoe history, knitted sock in dyneema and polyester, ceramic coated TPU cage and an open air mesh heel sock for extra breath-ability and comfort. The signature 3 stripes are visible in tonal white to the side panels, along with the classic heel counter for extra stability finished in a sprayed gloss lacquer for a premium finish. Sitting upon the Torsion energy return boost midsole and a grippy rubber outsole also in white, these are set to be huge on release day.

Moving onto the triple black, we can see the 2 designs are a pair of complimentary opposites. Expertly crafted from wool fibre with reflective accents adding functional details for night time running. The main body has been crafted from a primeknit upper in metallic black and wool, open air mesh heel sock, black heel counter sitting upon a contrasting white Torsion energy return boost midsole and black outsole finishes these trainers off perfectly.

Both trainers are more than just a running shoe, they are a technically enhanced design with all the aesthetic appeal that sneaker enthusiasts want and expect. The 2 designers push the boundaries in fabrics and technology to give the latest and most technically advanced running shoe. The full length Boost foam cushioning in both trainers has been included to provide enhanced energy return and comfort, along with leather details to the tongue and leather insoles adding to the premium feel to the sneakers.

Both colours of the Ultra Boost Collective trainers will be available to buy from Saturday 6th June and will cost £170.
