The Barbour SL Camo Bedale Jacket

When you hear the phrase ‘British heritage clothing’, chances are that a Barbour jacket would be one of the first things you’d think of: the brand’s reputation as an outdoor outfitter coupled with their timeless designs and traditional styling gives them an undeniable prestige. In more recent times, however, Barbour have been more willing to experiment with their archival designs, sometimes even handing over the reins to selected collaborators like Japan’s White Mountaineering.

Barbour Bedale Camouflage Jacket

This season is no different, with the brand opting to remix their quintessential waxed jacket, the Bedale, in a whole host of different patterns and finishes. This handsome example sees the Bedale SL – the previously Japan-only slimmed-down version – made up in an archival camouflage pattern, giving it a country-meets-military vibe that somehow makes perfect sense. Still using the brand’s signature waxed cotton fabrics and boasting a contrasting corduroy collar, this is sure to wear in beautifully, making it a perfect investment piece.

Y3 Take on the Trail Runner with the Harigane Sneaker

The trail running sneaker is having a bit of a fashion moment recently – alongside the wider trends of normcore, dadcore, whatever you want to call it – as a reclaimed symbol of utility and practicality over style, given new life by the cutting-edge trendsetters of fashion weeks the world over. Given this current climate, the brand new Harigane sneaker from Y3 makes perfect sense: unapologetic in its technical origins, Y3 adopt an ‘inside-out’ approach, putting the sneaker’s inner workings on display for all to see.

Starting with the now-expected lightweight Primeknit upper as a base, the Harigane – Japanese for ‘wires’ – lives up to its name by exposing the cable-based lacing system at the sides, utilising a floating lace-stay whilst also cleverly incorporating the signature 3 Stripes into the deconstructed look.

The sole unit continues this theme, with multi-layered foam strata of variable density showing exactly how the cushioning works, while the outsole adopts the customary sawtooth tread of traditional trail running sneakers, all adding up to an aggressive look. But it’s not all technical and utilitarian; premium grain leather accents add a touch of luxury, while the Poron-cushioned leather insole ensures all-day comfort.

If you’re looking to add something a little different to your sneaker rotation, Y3 have come through once again with a stellar option.

The Y3 Harigane sneaker in both Black / Red and White / Black colourways is available in-store and online now at Aphrodite Clothing.

Introducing Stone Island’s ‘2 looks in 1’ reversible Nylon Metal jacket

Sportswear giants Stone Island have taken parts of their SS18 even further this season. To ensure that you get the most out of your jacket, Stone Island’s latest release is reversible to provide two looks in one.

The Nylon Metal is one of the most versatile fabrics from the brand’s textile archive. Proving popular in previous seasons, Nylon Metal was used to create the orange flock jacket. The fabric is put through two dyeing processes to achieve the unique colour sheen, creating an iridescent, chromatic appearance with varied coloured tones.

Stone Island Reversible Jacket Black

The reversible jacket for SS18 will become your companion on those days when it’s neither too hot or too cold, the perfect in-between climates jacket. Lightweight and versatile, the jacket is available in both black and silver. The main side of the jacket is crafted from the metallic Nylon Metal fabric, complete with spacious pockets, zip and storm-flap fastening and the iconic compass badge decorating the sleeve.

Stone Island Reversible Jacket purple

On the reverse side, a padded cotton shell is decorated with subtle ‘onion stitching’. This pattern and material are reminiscent of an American military liner, which was designed to be worn underneath a field jacket for extra warmth. Stone Island has embraced the trend of wearing liners as a standalone piece, here constructed as a staple bomber jacket with a ribbed cotton collar, with matching cuffs and hem. There are two buttons on the left sleeve (of the wearer) to change the location of your Stone Island badge.

The Story Continues: the adidas EQT Support Mid ADV Adds a New Chapter to their History

Back in the heady days of 1991, adidas was having something of a crisis of identity: Nike was dominating the running and lifestyle scene with its extravagant and flashy designs, giving consumers a taste of the future with their visible Air Max technology and vibrant colourways. As a direct response to this, the EQT line was launched under the eye of designer Peter Moore, with the philosophy of ‘Everything that is essential, nothing that is not’. True to this ethos, the EQT line was stripped down the bare essentials, utilising cutting-edge technology to deliver runners with shoes that were the antithesis of the attention-grabbing Nike designs; unfussy, low-key and with an economy of design that extended to the spartan colour scheme of black, white and ‘sub green’. It also debuted a brand new, modern logo that has been used for the brand’s Performance line ever since.

Fast forward to the present, and the 3 Stripes are about to drop the latest addition to the revamped EQT range, the adidas EQT Support Mid ADV, which pays tribute to the original EQT Support trainer from 1991 while using up-to-date tooling and technology. Beginning with a full Primeknit upper in the iconic EQT colour scheme, the EQT Support Mid ADV boasts premium nubuck accents to the medial sides, an embroidered heel support cage that mirrors that of the original, and the signature webbing 3 Stripe lace loops to the sides. All this rides atop a soft, compression moulded midsole for exceptional comfort, and is finished with EQT Support branding embroidered to the vamp and heel.

Boasting an altogether different look for the EQT series, this welcome new addition to the ever-growing family still channels that same spirit of essentialism and economy that was such a hit back in the 90s, while updating it to still feel fresh today. Expect to see more colourways of this in the near future, but it’s difficult to beat the appeal of the OG.

The adidas EQT Support Mid ADV in Black / Sub Green will be launching on Thursday the 8th of February, both in-store and online from Aphrodite Clothing.

The adidas x Raf Simons Ozweego III Returns for Spring/Summer 2018

The trend for chunky, oversized sneakers isn’t going away any time soon, with exaggerated kicks adorning the feet of the world’s most fashionable, from Paris to Pitti.

Adidas x Raf Simons Ozweego III Sneakers

Fortunately, the arguable originator of the trend, the collaborative imprint from Belgian fashion god Raf Simons and sportswear giants adidas, is back once again this season with another take on their now-iconic Ozweego sneaker, presented in three new colourways.

Adidas x Raf Simons Ozweego III Online Now

You may know the drill by now, but here’s a rundown: the maximalist uppers sport an eclectic mix of materials, with supple premium leather contrasted with technical neoprene and twill, with raised piping along the whole length of the shoe, and the signature translucent latex bubbles featuring prominently to the lateral and medial sides, along with the tongue.

Keeping the look on-trend, the whole thing is sat atop a chunky, decoupled adiprene sole unit, with a hardwearing rubber outsole tread to help grip those city streets.

Coming in seasonal Light Purple, sophisticated Burgundy and classic Cream White colourways, the SS18 adidas x Raf Simons Ozweego sneaker is available in very limited numbers from Aphrodite Clothing now.

Two Worlds Collide in the adidas x Raf Simons Detroit Runner

The long-running collaboration between German sportswear titans adidas and the Belgian fashion maverick Raf Simons has been a wellspring of innovation and inspiration in the five years of its existence, from the ‘if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it’ approach to the designer’s beloved Stan Smith, to the street-style sensation that is the Ozweego.

The latest brainchild of the collaborative imprint, the Detroit Runner, continues in this vein, drawing on Simons’ youth culture inspirations to create another unique silhouette.

Adidas x Raf Simons Detroit Runner Sneaker

Much like the Ozweego before it, on first glance, the Detroit Runner looks bizarre: like a classic canvas sneaker that’s dressed as a technical running shoe for Halloween. But the concept of fusing the past and the present is hardly a new one, with retro sneakers from adidas and Nike regularly selling out faster than new styles. The Detroit Runner’s more literal approach – visibly infusing one of the oldest sneaker styles with modern materials and styling – creates something that is uniquely Raf Simons, looking to the future while respecting the past.

Adidas x Raf Simons Detroit Runner

The take on the humble canvas sneaker, souped up with modern athletic tooling and an aggressive silhouette is certainly eyecatching, yet is surprisingly wearable, creating an exaggerated alternative to a staple for those bold enough to pull it off. Much like the Ozweego, expect the Detroit Runner to become a street style classic in its own right.

The adidas x Raf Simons Detroit Runner Sneakers are available now in Black, Red, and Mist Stone/White colourways from Aphrodite Clothing.

Canada Goose SS18 drops at Aphrodite

Canada Goose was our saviour in winter, with styles such as the Chilliwack, Hybridge and Chateau parka being bestsellers throughout the colder months with their insulating properties. The brand for premium outerwear has just dropped their SS18 collection, introducing a range of slimline bomber jackets and lightweight pieces which will be ideal for the unpredictable weather.

Canada Goose SS18

The Faber bomber jacket is a prime example of what Canada Goose stand for; premium outerwear which always looks impeccable. Presented in a distinctive sandstorm camo colour-way, it has to be said that after seasons of block coloured garments, you would look twice after seeing the Canada Goose badge. The Faber, which is also available to buy in black, is the lightweight version of the Chilliwack bomber jacket. A two-way zip decorates the front, covered with a storm flap to conceal the fastening for a sleeker look. The abstract print alone is set to make this jacket turn heads. Not only oozing contemporary style, the Faber is durable and wind resistant without the excess weight. Crafted from Dura-Force nylon fabric which gives the jacket these properties without making the garment too heavy during the warmer days. Pockets are featured on the hips, with a military-style pocket to the sleeve. Of course, the Canada Goose logo sits on the sleeve, pride of place for an iconic finish.

Canada Goose Blue Jacket

The Dunham jacket is a similar style to the Faber, but holds a slightly slimmer fit. The casual padded bomber in permafrost grey features a high neckline which is crafted from ribbed cotton, making it comfortable and ensuring a great fit around the neck. Elasticated panelling is subtly boasted across the middle of the sleeves for movement and detail, co-ordinating with the black cotton cuffs which also have a stretch ability. Contrasting quilted panelling throughout the jacket gives a flattering, modern look which boasts timeless style. Choose from either the permafrost grey or black colour-way in this style.

Canada Goose Grey Jacket

The Cabri hoody is the ideal piece to transition between the elements, this silhouette is hooded, with a slim fit and light down fill to the durable nylon shell. Offering strategically placed down baffles to lock in warmth where you need it most, the hoody also has ribbed accents to the cuffs and hem for extra fit and comfort. One feature that makes this jacket so practical is the interior straps, enabling the wearer to take off the jacket and carry it on their shoulders if needed. The Cabri is available to buy in marine blue and black.

If you’re on the look-out for a durable jacket to suit the transitional weather, check out our range of Canada Goose online now. Also available in our Sunderland store.

Stone Island Archivio ‘Raso Gommato’ T-Shirt | White & Peach

As our store manager saw first-hand on his envy-inducing trip to Stone Island HQ, the brand cherishes its extensive archive, constantly dipping into it for inspiration on how to push things forward while remaining mindful of its roots. Inspiring stuff. Now, as with every season since 2012, Stone Island have released an Archivio t-shirt celebrating one of their innovative archival fabrics: the Raso Gommato coated sateen.

Stone Island Raso Gommato

Endlessly versatile and practical, the Raso Gommato is a military-spec cotton sateen which is bonded to varying weather resistant membranes, and has been a staple of the brand’s lineup since its first usage. This season’s t-shirt actually uses the fabric itself as a base for the rear print, giving it a subtle texture contrast, with the technical description of the material printed underneath to let everyone know you know your stuff. Meanwhile, the front of the tee sports the iconic Stone Island logo along with embroidered ‘Archivio’ text, giving this limited piece a touch of the gravitas it deserves.

Presented in both a classic white and a seasonal peach colourway, the Stone Island Archivio ‘Raso Gommato’ t-shirt is available now from Aphrodite Clothing.
