adidas Twinstrike ADV

The adidas Twinstrike ADV is the Underrated Sneaker of the Spring

Of all the menswear trends of the last few years, the one that seems to have the most sticking power is the chunky statement sneaker — also known as the ‘dad’ or ‘ugly’ sneaker, depending on who you ask. Whether teamed with retro sportswear, logo-heavy streetwear or even oversized tailoring, the use of bold footwear as an anchor for your ‘fit has become a staple that’s going nowhere any time soon, and adidas have been at the forefront of the trend ever since their first partnership with Belgian fashion don Raf Simons back in 2013 on the first version of the now-legendary Ozweego. Now we’re happy to welcome the 3 Stripes’ latest silhouette to reinterpret their early-00s tech, and one of their best yet: the Twinstrike ADV.

The latest addition to the ADV family, the sneaker is based on their popular A3 Twinstrike model from 2003. Utilising the namesake A3 cushioning system, which boasted distinctive isolated ‘pods’ of EVA foam, the Twinstrike was designed to promote natural foot motion by guiding the foot from a heel strike through to the forefoot, as well as providing all-important energy return. The new iteration keeps this distinctive sole unit intact and builds on it with an equally-striking upper, constructed from lightweight, breathable Climacool mesh with deconstructed structural elements and luxurious leather and nubuck overlays.

A strong look in its own right, but the colour-blocking on this pair really takes things up a notch, with the primarily off-white base elevated with accents of teal and purple. Combine the eyecatching colourway with the comfort of the sole and the Climacool tech on the uppers and you’ve got the ingredients for the perfect Spring sneaker.

The adidas Twinstrike ADV in White / Real Teal / Real Purple is available in-store and online now from Aphrodite Clothing, priced at £149
