As 2017 draws to a close, having been a strong year for the Brand with the Three Stripes, adidas have one final treat in store for sneaker lovers: a brand new lifestyle silhouette, the Prophere. One look at this shoe and the influence of the 90s becomes clear; boasting the bold, overstated design and branding typical of that decade, the Prophere, much like the recently revitalised EQT range before it, reinterprets that aesthetic into something more suited for the street scenes of today.
Starting with a knit sock-fit upper in a marled pattern, the Prophere boasts oversized suede 3 Stripes to the side which double as lacing loops and improve foot lockdown, while the tongue has an elasticated pull loop that can also be utilised to hide the laces for a sleeker look. The midsole is the main event, however: a chunky, sculpted affair with a textured mould for both striking looks and a comfortable ride, while the outsole tread boasts hits of neon ‘Solar Red’, which can also be found at the heel and speckled throughout the uppers.
The finishing touch comes in the form of a premium leather heel counter, with a central seam that gives it an almost artisanal, handmade appearance.
The Prophere takes the momentum the brand has built with its NMD and EQT lines and channels it into something both exciting and familiar, built with comfort in mind and with enough uncompromising 90s design flair to make a statement on the streets. Look forward to more colourways of this silhouette in the coming year.
The adidas Prophere in Core Black/Solar Red will be available from Aphrodite Clothing instore and online from the 15th of December.
