Sandbanks is all about prioritising sustainability and taking responsibility for the environment.

What Are Sandbanks All About?

Luxury, Sustainability, and Regeneration

Sandbanks is a luxury fashion brand that places sustainability at the heart of its mission. Their products are crafted from recycled and regenerated materials, specifically sourced from post-consumer plastic waste found in the oceans and landfills. By giving new life to discarded materials, Sandbanks not only creates exquisite fashion but also contributes to reducing the environmental burden.

Sandbanks Gilet

What sets Sandbanks apart is its commitment to the environment. They collaborate with partners who offer access to premium sustainable and technical fabrics and components. Moreover, each product is meticulously designed with longevity in mind. This ensures that every piece stands the test of time, reducing the need for frequent replacements and minimising waste. With this emphasis on sustainable, ecologically-minded practises, the Sandbanks purchase you choose to make at Aphrodite – be it a soft cotton Sandbanks T-Shirt, a versatile pique Sandbanks Polo Shirt or an Autumn/Winter-ready Sandbanks Gilet – becomes more than just a fleeting, trend-oriented cop; its an investment for the future of both your wardrobe and of our planet.

What Makes Sandbanks So Eco-Friendly?

Carbon-Neutral and Climate-Positive

Sandbanks goes the extra mile by being a carbon-neutral and climate-positive brand. At each stage of a garment’s journey, from design to the hands of the customer, they offset their carbon emissions. This demonstrates their unwavering dedication to making a positive impact on the environment.

Sandbanks T-Shirt

Additionally, Sandbanks embraces a zero real fur and down policy. By opting for eco-friendly alternatives, they contribute to saving countless animals from exploitation. It’s a commitment to ethics and sustainability that resonates with those who value both style and conscience.

What Do Sandbanks Stand For?

Battling the Culture of Excess

Sandbanks’ ethos is rooted in addressing the excessive consumption culture that prevails in today’s society. This culture has, unfortunately, contributed to severe consequences for our planet. The unrelenting desire for more has given rise to a culture that exacerbates prevalent climate issues, including the plastic epidemic, rising carbon emissions, and unsustainable fashion practices.

Sandbanks Long Sleeve Polo Shirt

The plastic pollution crisis is a pressing concern, with a staggering amount of plastic waste never making it into recycling facilities. This not only pollutes our environment but also endangers marine life, disrupting ecosystems and contaminating our food chain with toxic microplastics.

Sandbanks Polo Shirt

Fashion consumption has surged, resulting in a shocking amount of clothing ending up in landfills each year. The traditional luxury fashion industry’s use of real fur and down has also faced scrutiny. Many are questioning the necessity of these materials when eco-friendly alternatives can prevent the exploitation of millions of animals.

It’s increasingly evident that sustainable, responsible, and ethical options are not just desirable but essential to combat these pressing issues and safeguard our planet’s future.

Who Is Wearing Sandbanks?

A Celebrity-Backed Movement

Sandbanks has garnered a loyal following, including sporting figures like Jamie Carragher, Gary Neville and Jamie Redknapp, who acted as a brand ambassador for the business since its emergence. Such prominent figures recognise the significance of aligning with a brand that combines luxury with sustainability, setting an example for fashion enthusiasts and the industry as a whole.

Why Choose Sandbanks?

Sandbanks Clothing is more than a fashion brand; it’s a statement of values. By choosing Sandbanks, you’re not just embracing style; you’re contributing to a brighter and more sustainable future for our planet. It’s a brand where luxury and sustainability coexist harmoniously, where each purchase is a step towards making a positive impact. Join the movement today, and together, we can redefine fashion by prioritising ethics and the environment.

CP Company Mille Miglia Jacket in Black

Is This The Best CP Company Jacket Of All Time?

There have been plenty of contenders when it comes to the GOAT of CP Company jackets, but we think that this is the one…

CP Company Mille Miglia Jacket in Black

CP Company Mille Miglia Jacket: An Introduction

CP Company are no stranger to making beautiful jackets, after all they’re Italian and if there’s one stereotype that we’ll stand by its that they make some bloody good garments. This piece is exemplary of that fact. It highlights CP Company’s ability to utilise classics found in the brand’s archives, and harness a contemporary flair in order to modernise its style. But why do we believe that this could just be the best CP Company Jacket of all time? It all comes down to three key aspects: Form, Function, and Fabrics.

CP Company Mille Miglia Jacket Details

CP Company Goggle Jacket: A Fine Example Of Timeless Style

Anybody who has had any affinity with the brand over the years knows that Massimo Osti was its founder. Back in 1971, CP Company became his creative outlet as he innovated graphic t-shirts with his unique screen-printing process. From there, Osti advanced to creating seasonal collections that encapsulated his unique style and influences. His early jackets were evidently inspired by military-wear with the functional work-wear essence being omni-present in his design. This jacket utilises the best components from CP Company’s archival pieces and creates a unique style that can be combined with a variety of modern aesthetics; From streetwear and workwear to casual clothing and a contemporary look, the jacket’s shape, build and style ooze versatility.

CP Company Goggle Jacket

Functional Design: An On-Body Experience

As is true of all CP Company Jackets, it seems as though the brand prioritises function over form. And while this certainly resonates true in this instance, the designers behind this garment have incorporated an array of features in such a way that marries both style and utility. The Mille Miglia Goggle Jacket is a dream for those of us that appreciate the finer details. And for the uninitiated, I’m going to give you a run down of the standout features from this seasons iteration.

A watch viewer and goggle hood are the most prominent features and are included as a nod to the jackets motorbiking heritage. Entwining the history of the Mille Miglia endurance race, CP Company ensures that this piece stays authentic to its roots. Elsewhere a two way zipper and button down storm flap make for styling versatility. The jackets collar features press studs that when used, deliver elemental protection to the neck. An array of adjustable poppers and cords are fitted to ensure a perfect fit for each wearer. While a mass of pockets and a metal clip make for ample on the go storage. You really wont find a garment that embraces the smaller details in design quite like this.

CP Company Ba-Tic Jacket

Material Innovation: CP Company’s Ba-Tic Fabric

All CP Company fans have one thing in common, a deep appreciation for quality fabrics. Not only can a unique fabric enhance a garment’s style, but it ensures long term durability through premium craftsmanship. Which in short, means that you’re getting your money’s worth.  It has been a recent movement, perhaps due to the cost of living crisis, that men have turned their attention a way from fleeting trends, with a new focus on long term investment pieces. And if there’s anybody that can give you any assurance about their materials, it’s a Massimo Osti brand.

This Mille Miglia Jacket is crafted using CP Company’s proprietary Ba-Tic fabric. The construction begins with a ready-for-dyeing waxed broadcloth, which CP Company directly source from Halley Stevenson’s in Dundee, Scotland. The emulsion wax of the fabric means there is a slight resistance to the garment dyeing process, so CP over-dye the material in order to achieve an intense black tone with chromatic variation. It’s a true testament to the fabric engineers at CP, in the way that they continue to innovate cotton fabric, modernising it while retaining its classic elements.

The Mille Miglia: CP Company’s Greatest Design

While writing this blog I’m aware that I shouldn’t really single out a jacket as being the ‘GOAT’. After all my job is to push a wide variety of outerwear pieces. However, when it comes to the Mille Miglia it’s impossible to deny its allure. It achieves the perfect balance of style, function and fabric innovation all while being incredibly easy to wear and incorporate into any wardrobe rotation. Subtle branding and unique features combine to create an aesthetically complete jacket, one that will remain in-style for decades to come. Its popularity among those ‘in the know’ is clear to see and the reasoning is evident. Be sure to get in on the action and grab your own CP Company Mille Miglia Goggle Jacket while stock lasts.

Fred Perry Logo

Celebrate The 70th Anniversary of the Iconic Fred Perry Polo Shirt

Fred Perry is undeniably one of the foremost heritage brands to come out of Britain and one of only a handful that seamlessly merge streetwear and sportswear with timeless design. The result? One of the most iconic brands operating today.

Fred Perry Logo
The Fred Perry Polo Shirt has its roots in the 19th-century, originally named the ‘Tennis Shirt’ it was conceived to sit somewhere between sportswear and formal attire. Something befitting such a gentlemanly pursuit. However, in the 1950s, when British tennis star Frederick ‘Fred’ Perry, the number one player in the world for four consecutive years, looked to create a more fitted, comfortable shirt for optimal performance on the court, the legendary cotton pique shirt we know and love today was born, proudly featuring the laurel wreath embroidery that has become synonymous with the Fred Perry brand.

Fred Perry Polo Shirts

The collared Polo Shirt has since become an essential in the wardrobes of men and women alike. Showing no sign of losing its popularity, it remains at the forefront of fashion trends, continuing to reign as a British institution during the 1990s, into the new millennium and beyond.

In the 1980’s, this iconic piece was used to signify membership into the subcultural groups of the day. Punks adorned the Polo Shirt and paired it with sta-pressed trousers, braces and Docs. Mod revivalists took advantage of its sleek construction and wearability to elevate casual looks. And following the emergence of Britpop in the early nineties, the ‘Fred Perry‘ as it became known, was seen as a must-have for anyone looking to imitate the likes of Blur and Oasis in the pub, at a gig, or on the terraces.

Fred Perry Polo

Since then we’ve seen many celebrities, style icons and trendsetters take the Fred Perry Polo and make it their own. Amy Winehouse was a fan. As was Freddie Mercury. And you’d be hard pushed to forget the Modfather himself, Paul Weller when thinking about the brand with the laurel wreath’s impact on British culture. But when all is said and done, it is the popularity of Fred Perry among those at street level – the everyman/woman – that has driven the overwhelming popularity of the brand, cementing its reputation as an unwavering part of UK street style.

The pairing of the famous Laurel logo, the instantly recognisable twin-tipped collar and clean-cut aesthetic of the polo indicates to passers-by that its wearer – whether Mod icon, Punk disrupter or Terrace god – holds up a commitment to timeless style rather than fleeting fashion trends, solidifying Fred Perry as one of the most beloved British brands, even after 70 years.

To coincide with Fred Perry celebrating its recent 70th anniversary, here at Aphrodite, we’ve pulled together the finest examples of the Fred Perry Polo from the current collection for our customers to browse.

New Balance has established a legacy founded on consistent innovation and technological progress in the footwear industry; And, although the brand is often linked with cutting-edge designs in vibrant hues, it’s simply impossible to think of New Balance without picturing a classic pair of Grey trainers… But how has this come to be?

What is New Balance Grey Day

During the late 1970s, runners grew increasingly frustrated as their white trainers were being ruined by the harsh city conditions, with the main culprit being the asphalt. The consistent kicking up of dust, along with the knocking and scraping of runners’ feet, resulted in even the most durable of trainers being tinted a light grey shade by the urban environment. Keen to find a solution for the issue, New Balance opted to release an array of running trainers with lightweight grey suede uppers, perfectly matching the shades of the city’s asphalt and seamlessly integrating into consumers’ lifestyles.

Autry Footwear

Autry Brand Guide

Autry joins the footwear line-up at Aphrodite clothing…

Autry Footwear History

Introduced to wardrobes in 1982, Jim Autry founded the timeless pairs that are Autry trainers. Focusing on tennis, running, and aerobic-style trainers, he created casual footwear that would always sport the American flag on the side of the shoe. Autry won several awards during the 80s for their innovative and technical sports shoes, as well as being rated 5 stars by the Runner World magazine in 1987. The popularity of this shoe spiked at just the right time, it was a period where there was a lot of clout around wearing a trainer as an everyday shoe and not just for sport. Autry did just that, from being a shoe that was originally marketed as a tennis shoe to an 80s casual trainer phenomenon.

Autry Footwear

While the success of his footwear brand was just blooming, the footwear creatives took a step back in the 90s when founder Jim Autry sadly passed away, and no descendants were interested in carrying on the legacy, leaving the brand to be off the radar for 20 years. It wasn’t until 2019 that Autry was picked back up by Alberto Raengo and his two business partners, alongside Patrizio de Marco, the ex-CEO of Gucci and Bottega Veneta. After being known as the “shoe with the American flag”, Autry returns as just that in their comeback, still sporting the American flag for their signature look, also bringing in some 80s aesthetics.

Autry Footwear  Autry’s Designs

The reintroduction of Autry has seen reimagined styles of their iconic models, keeping classic 80s designs and great craftmanship throughout, the designs have hardly changed since the debut. Perforated vamps, vintage layered details, and minimal white leather combine to create a modern take on the pieces that Jim Autry introduced to the world. Aesthetically, Autry trainers are sleek and timeless, a pair that you can’t help but come back to. They go with everything, and the un busy silhouette has also allowed for the brand to experiment with colours to the uppers and the soles, while its vintage-esque designs have come around at a perfect time in fashion where the 80s and 90s are starting to repeat themselves.

Ray Ban Sunglasses

Ray Ban: Brand Guide

Explore the Iconic World of Ray-Ban Sunglasses

They’re one of the most iconic, instantly recognisable and sought after brands on earth, and the undisputed champion of mastering the art of stylish eyewear. From film stars and sporting legends, to the front men of rock and roll bands and even some of the former presidents of the United States, Ray Ban knows no boundaries when it comes to the conformity of style, or the way in which their frames can shape not only a generation, but a timelessly cool culture, with one simple signature logo.

Ray Ban

Ray Ban History

Founded in 1934 in America, RayBan made its name through aviation. In a time where planes were going higher than ever, and had the range to travel distances that a lack of technology had previously inhibited, US Air Force pilots began to complain of headaches and altitude sickness from the increased amount of glare from the sun. Ray Ban saw their opportunity and stepped in, introducing a plastic frame with a green lens that would reduce glare without obscuring the pilot’s vision. It was this frame that sealed Ray Ban’s instant success as a new eyewear brand, as the style was later remodelled with a metal frame and called the Ray Ban Aviator.

RayBan became renowned for their unique performance in different lights. Before long, their reputation had led to them being worn for much more than just flying. Anybody partaking in outdoor pursuits lusted after a pair of Ray Bans, with later models being released with different coloured lenses to reduce the effects of varying light conditions on the eye. From hunting, to rock climbing and fishing, Ray Ban’s seemed to work their way into every aspect of outdoor life.

Ray Ban Sunglasses

Ray Ban’s Evolution

The 1940s saw Ray Ban develop the technology behind their lenses further, as gradient mirrored lenses protected pilots from the sun whilst allowing them to clearly see their dials in their lower field of vision. This military-inspired phenomenon spread to mainstream fashion, as ordinary people clamoured to get their hands on military-spec apparel.
The fashion after the war remained militarized; with civilians wearing Army issue t-shirts and pilot inspired clothing, including Ray Ban sunglasses to imitate their style. The implications of this shift in fashion were huge for Ray Ban – it meant that they had just managed to become a mainstream fashion eyewear brand without having to change a thing.

The wake of the war saw a shift in American culture. Hollywood boomed and the rise of the film star became unstoppable. It was during this time that Ray Ban introduced what is now perhaps one of their most recognisable styles, the Wayfarer. The squared-off frame was worn on-screen by the likes of Audrey Hepburn in “Breakfast at Tiffany’s” and James Dean in “Rebel Without a Cause”, which led to some of Ray Ban’s greatest exposure, as their styles were displayed on the big screen by some of the most culturally significant figures of all time. The boom continued well into the 1960s, with even more styles being added to the Ray Ban range, including frames for men, women and children.

Ray Ban Sunglasses

Ray Ban’s In Pop-Culture

The more recent years have seen Ray Ban continue their venture into popular culture. From Tom Cruise sporting the Ray Ban Aviator in “Top Gun” to a huge host of their styles appearing in one of Quentin Tarantino’s most celebrated films, “Reservoir Dogs”, Ray Bans have been displayed at the movies since their early popularity. With musicians such as Kanye West, Liam Gallagher and Rihanna being spotted wearing RayBan frames, there are no boundaries to which the American label can adhere too. With Ray Ban styles using their huge cultural references to transcend any style, they have always remained as pricelessly stylish no matter what look they are used in.

RayBan Sunglasses

With constant updates and innovations, including the reworking of timeless frames like the Wayfarer to create newer, sleeker versions, whilst also still maintaining production of the classic style, Ray Ban is one of the few brands in the world that can appeal to any gender and generation.

However, despite their unrivalled level of popularity thanks to their undoubted style, Ray Ban’s haven’t forgotten their roots of technological lens innovation. Still developing new tints and designs for the lenses to fit their sough-after frames, Ray Ban still provide everything from fully mirrored lenses on their classic Aviators, to the traditional green lens on their iconic Wayfarer, making them one of the most successful eyewear brands of all time.
