With summer officially over (RIP), it’s time to start planning ahead for those incoming shorter, colder days. Fortunately for those of us that can’t let go of our sneakers whatever the weather, Nike has us covered with this cosy new duo of Air Max classics, featuring both the Air Max 95 and Air Max 97.

Starting with the older brother of the two, the Air Max 95 displays the distinctive wave design the 1995 runner is known for, while the mix of materials elevates it above the norm, synthetic overlays in neutral grey and beige shades set over a plush wool base for a decidedly warm and laid-back look. All this is sat atop a clean white iteration of the iconic anatomical Max Air sole unit with its three distinct visible Air bubbles.

Meanwhile the 20th birthday celebration of the Air Max 97 continues, taking on a similar aesthetic, with a textured wool textile serving as a base for the famous fluid, undulating stripes in a mix of grey, tan and black tones, coupled with the requisite 3M reflective treatment.

The juxtaposition of traditional materials with the masterful technical designs of the mid-90s makes for a surprisingly elegant pack. Eschewing the usual road-ready aesthetic for something more smart and autumnal, they would be ideal to pair with dark selvedge jeans or chinos and a comfy knit for those chilly days.
